OK to start some interest back on here I have a topic to discuss, what would you do for racing if you won the lottery and won enough to pretty much do what you want? 1. for myself I would help sponsor a friend's racing career, 2. sponsor a SLM race with a big payout at our local track, 3. help upgrade our local track with whatever they need for track equipment or improvements, 4. start and fund a new late model class back to basics to make it more affordable, these are some of my ideas so what it yours?

    Go Big or Go Home!

I will buy Speedworld. Not rent, buy.

Then the drag dudes will have to trim the grounds and whatnot in order to earn their right to race. Maybe.

Racing will be on Friday nights with big fat purses to lure big fat fields of cars that will all be idle on Fridays. New asphalt, stands, beer dispensers, & whatever else the joint needs will be taken care of, naturally.

The All-Star Track Employee Roster will be as follows:

    Phil Jacques--General Promoter (who else?)

    Patrick Thomas--Chief Tech Inspector

Rex Hollinger-- Financial & Accounting Officer and Keeper of the Loss Statement (I need the write off to offset the returns from rest of the investments that I will dump additional obscene amounts of cash into)

    Barbara & Butch Pierce--Co-Race Directors

Julian Mullis--Flagman (who will be getting even brighter outfits, perhaps with lights in strategic places)

    Scott D--Fire and Safety Director

And I want a car, of course. Probably a Camaro-ish hobby stocker, built and maintained by Chad Pierce Motorsports (P Thomas will be busy with his Tech position and also fielding the Super Late Model that his salary will support). The car will have a NASCAR cage, fire system, and seat, and I will have the latest in Big Foam Filled Helmets & fire suit fashion.

That should keep me busy for a while.

(ps--Meanwhile, I need somebody to buy me the lotto ticket...)

Hey, leave me out of that! I was on a racing board once and was amazed at the racers' enthusiasm for self-destruction. What should have been like falling off a log turned into an ordeal like falling off a cliff. I can't say that this "volunteer job" caused my divorce, BUT I WAS DOING IT WHEN things broke down!

Aside from your preposterous choice for F&A officer, I like it.

Did you know that the Speedworld owners no longer refer to it as an oval track? It is their "drift pad". Yuck...

Pile the cash on me and I will split my time between a pavement sprint and a fast SCCA car. My son is all about racing sprints too, so I would get him going first.

Heck, it was precisely your previous experience that made you the seemingly perfect candidate for the job.

But clearly you have moved on to bigger & better (& probably faster) things.

Jim Harris, then, for the position. That guy seems also seems to be pretty good with numbers.

I'm gonna be like Cleetus.Im going to find a place with some history that's crumbling and save it from nature.Kinda like Mike I want a new Late Model division with maybe another start up class thrown in..Four days a week dedicated towards oval the 3 remaining towards other revenue generators.Maybe a race car or two thrown in the mix to keep it from getting dull.

First I would get me a dirt late model and try my hand at that. I spent 16 years racing pro stocks, modifieds, and V8 warriors, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. But I always wished I had enough $ for a late model. Then I would sponsor a few local race teams and tracks to help keep things rolling in the future.

If I won really lot of $,say $10 mil or more,I'd build a black top 1/4 mile oval with small banking, with a 1/4 mile drag strip . i In southeast Fla. again. NOW the first poster had his #4 in his list, and it's one I had talked about a lot in the passed. About how we lost track of what made racing work pretty good way back. Junkyard Parts class's. To that end though it turns out that all the very cool to use engines* now days in junk yards, need a custom "Plug an run"box,or you can't make them work in a race car!=I'd have to have those designed an made{ at a fairly low $ for use,to every one all over the USA} The hold back right now is those are only around for a few new V8s,but there are a lot of newer V6 an 4cly's that make amazing HP stock,if they could be used. They are low cost now. A super late model right now that in race trim cost as much as $50,000+,is there no wounder that car count is low at tracks that can't put up big $. Point is there are only a few things that count; Track must make $= High, number of cars to make a show and speed=Speed is respect* , and the fans really like fairly even racing. So say a late model that goes just as fast but cost 1/10th as much would work to jump fans an number cars with those that come with them . I can go to a junk yard right now an buy a alum FI engine that makes 400 to 500 HP an turn 8000rpm+ for $500,{keep it stock}it could be used if a plug an run box, could be got low $ and put in. So again,I still say were are stuck for far to long with a over cost SBC that old design but a lot of super high $ up dates<why do we still use it,it was a great engine in the 50s an 60s an fairly low $ to race, but now its just of zero interest to the young, not what they drive or care about//how you going the get them to the races,if not racing anything they like ?

So yup,I said too much again !

Are you sure about your decision? I mean, REAL sure? Everyone says I don't know anything.

                    Absolutely sure.

Actually, if you ignore my occasional crankshaft yank (and you should), I have never heard nary a disparaging word.

It must be your northern contemporaries commenting on your migration south.

And we all are counting on you for a better class of... beer at the concession stand and Daisy Dukes style "Bithlo Babes" to serve it.

And by the way, there is plenty of money in the budget to do something about that embarrassment of a sign at the entrance.
