  • Another historic track in the Great Lakes has a bleak future

At the end of the 2019 season the track promoter at Baer Field Motorsports Park was informed his lease option would not be renewed for 2020 with no other perspective new tenants the current situation is a shuttered track even once the Virus restrictions are lifted.Recently the owner of Sandusky Speedway has placed the 70 year old Ohio half mile on the real estate market at an asking price of 1.5 million dollars. The once proud facility is old and dated and honestly probably needs another half million in upgrades and improvements.Think of it like North Wilkesboro before it got as bad as today. The decision was made to list the only operating paved half mile in Ohio besides Toledo Speedway largely by the Virus pandemic and the obligations involving his full time livelihood which requires his presence states away for increasingly longer periods of time. With the almost 90 acre facility located not far from the shores of Ohio's fishing and boating playground Lake Erie coupled with proximity to Internationally known Cedar Point Amusement Park a scant few miles away he realizes the value attraction leans way heavier to a developer than a racing enthusiast. He said he would like to see the track live on another 70 years but...as the old saying goes without him actually saying it--money talks,BSwalks.
