  • New Smyrna Speedway - Iracing Double Header

Tuesday night and decided to turn on the pc. Low and behold while scanning thru NSS facebook page I saw where two races - I style - were being held. Late Models last Sat in a 100 lap battle and the Tour Mods on Monday in a 50 lapper. Two different feeds with each doing a very good job in broadcasting the events. The late model end of the show had about 41 starters going for 24 starting spots. Best race of the night was the second heat which had a long battle between between #20 Sergi and #3 Blake Clouser, who put on a show as he made attempt after attempt to pass Sergi, but in the end finished 2nd. First heat went to Jason Lester while Jesse Powers in the #32 took the Last chance race. The 100 lapper saw pole sitter #5 Ryan Matthews lead from start to finish to win over #2 Borges, #51 Ryan Pierce, with Sergi and Lester surviving a last lap pile up which took out many of the front runners, coming through for 4th and 5th. Wild flips along with plenty of action in this 100 lapper. Only downfall was the approx 47 laps of caution flag racing with two green-white-checkers. The track looked great and as usual many folks (even in the virtual world) felt the need to stand in front of others while trying to view. Overall a nice job by the three announcers with Ryan Stevens coming on strong at the end. Now onto the modifieds........

NSS - Modifieds Iracing part #2

NSS was part of the NASCAR Grass Roots series which will have four Whelen (sp) Mod Series races. 54 tour mods went to the starting line in four heat races. Heat winners were #42 Parker Retzlaff, #01 Bryan Narducci, #6 Nick Sanchez, and #22 Andre Castro. The Last chance race with 24 scheduled cars saw #21 David Oliver take the win. Some of the other drivers competing were, #43 Daniel Dye, #73 Josh Berry, #07 Patrick Emerling, #99 Gracie Trotter, Jimmie Blewett, DJ Kennington, Cole Raz, #45 Ty Majeski. (Majeski had what appeared to be a computer glitch while leading his heat race and stalled out finishing 6th which qualified him for the feature. Unfortunate but he did not fair well in the feature run and was dead last after leaving the race early. (not sure if he started feature). The 50 lapper went pretty smooth with Retzlaff and his #42 taking down the victory over #64 Treyton Lapcevich, Castro and the #22 was third, followed by Josh Berry and Kyle Ellwood. Was also neat to see the Ol Blue#3 (shown as #103) of Swanson, Donny Lia in the Mystic Missile #4 (didn;t make the feature), and Narducci of Ct (watched Ron many a night at Plainville and Stafford). All in all a very good presentation and Tony Stevens, Tim Terry and Mike Skinner did a very respectable job of announcing. Retzlaff also won the GN race at Irwindale last week and now has 2 Iracing wins in a row. Now for tonight it will be the World of Outlaws on FS1.......Keep em coming...good viewing !!!
