  • Kyle Larson Suspended

With McDonald’s, Clover and Credit One dropping the sponsorship And Ross Chastain already having a relationship with Chip Ginassi I bet he’s a front runner to take over this ride.

And as of today Larson is out at Ganassi. So possibly enter Ross Chastain who to my understanding is still under contract to Ganassi or does Ganassi do as before and just park the team for the remainder of whatever season will be left.

And who do we think will pick up the now-very-contrite Larson?

He will no doubt be available at a discount.

Joe Gibbs, who is used to wayward athletes?

Stewart/Haas? Recall the Kurt Busch sponsorship out of Gene's pocket...

I actually think putting him in the Haas F1 car might work.

I’m going to imagine he will sit out the rest of the season in Cup and race sprints throughout the country. And he will end up somewhere next season in Cup.

Looks like Matt Kenseth has been tabbed to drive the #42 and Ryan Newman has been cleared to drive the #6 again as well so it looks like Ross Chastain is back to the #10 car in the Xfinity Series. I was really hoping that he got a shot to pilot the #42 car for the rest of the season.

It doesn't surprise me Ross got passed over Elmer

Considering Ganassi didn't exactly go out of his way keeping his Xfinity team together once the sponsor vanished. The choice of Kenseth was a bit surprising to me.And I like Matt Kenseth.I always have. His age is quickly getting to the point where his AARP card will be showing up in his mailbox fairly soon.Ryan Newman can look at Matt's card to know what to be on the look out for and so can Jimmie Johnson.Could you imagine the crowd NASCAR might actually get for Speedweeks 2021 if they announced Johnson,Kenseth,Newman and a fresh out of retirement Jeff Gordon had all signed to make a string of truck starts beginning with Daytona all designed to knock the Kyle Busch truck series train off the tracks.Put some of the old timers in that series who still have the name recognition to draw fans. All with proven race wins under their belts not just a bunch of 18 year old rent a racers.

Am thinking that Chip likes to get as much driver as he can for the buck.

Think about it: beginner Larson, outsider Jet Dryer Montoya, late career Marlin.

So, he has hooked up Kenseth who he is pretty sure will run well and tear up less equipment than most. For probably a bargain for the rest of the year.

Now, that is a) generally how I do things and b) 100% off the top of my head, Chip may pay more than Gibbs for all I really know.

But IF the premise is true, it always leaves you a half step behind of the guy that WILL pay the very top dollar for top parts and talent.

That said, I wish Ganassi & Kenseth nothing but success and will be following the #42.

I also hope to see Kyle Larson back in a top ride soon.

                #1 reason Chip chose Kenseth

Ross is under contract with Ganassi, but is already committed to the 2020 season with his Xfinity team Kaulig Racing. The sponsors of the 42 likely wanted a driver that could be available to contend for the championship. Ross being committed to Kaulig and already in the points battle, was not able to do that.

Ross WILL get that 42 in 2021 or 2022. Patience.

                  Phil

I kinda thought the very same thing but it was just my own thoughts. And I like Matt. Its a little disappointing that a second seat at Ganassi vanished for him but really he's in a pretty good place right now with a group who looks committed to winning not just logging laps.It will be interesting seeing how that pairing develops. And good luck to Matt.

It is indeed a good point.

Chastain also fits the "lot-of-driver-for-the-probable-buck" theory.
