I would agree with you except...it was still aero produced. At NSS a car pushing another folded up car cannot pass non-folded up cars (and yes, I know all six cars were somewhat folded up).

And what happened to Larson? He rolled through the field like he had nitrous and then looked like a $3-a-ride go cart that had a governor malfunction. Again, "abnormal" racing due to air, due to mandated plates due to excessive speed, all of which is due to the humongo track with silly banking for it's size and today's technology.

The Daytona 500, theoretically their biggest race, has become interesting primarily due to morbid curiosity.
