  • Racing in 2019 by the numbers

2019 was a different kind of year for me.

37 total race nights, and this is way down from my usual 50-60.

19 nights out of Florida, and only 18 at Florida tracks.

8 tracks visited for the first time: Hendry County, I-96 in Michigan, Darlington, the Dirt Track at Charlotte, Florence Motor Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Lakeview Speedway in SC and Corrigan Oil Speedway in MI.

The highlight of my year was my 17 year old son, Steven. He won 4 TQ midget features, and also got one in karts. I spent most of the year living in SC, but I traveled home to race with him once a month.

This year he bought his first truck, and can race without the old man now. His kart win, for example, came when he was alone at the track and I was three states away.

The best event? Hands down it was the World Finals at the Charlotte Dirt Track.

However, there was one thing missing in 2019.

    Me.

This was the first year since 1987 that I got no seat time. I expect 2020 to be much more normal; I'll be back in Florida and back in the seat.

    So what are YOUR numbers?

For the first time since I came to Florida in 2009 I never made it to a race at 4-17.In fact I only made it to three tracks the entire year.I started the year off in January at Auburndale for a Truck/Sportsman show and ended the year at Citrus County with some nights at Showtime sprinkled in.No new tracks attended and Citrus County Speedway grabbing the majority of my "Saturday night " money.I still haven't made it to the Snowball Derby or Volusia or either dirt track in Lake City.Maybe 2020 will be different.

Way to many to count..... Well maybe not but I did not keep count.

Next year I promise to keep better records and it's going to be a great racing year and we are all going to have some fun. I promise you that.

Lets make racing great as well as fun again

As Boneman calls me the busiest guy in Florida racing

      Merry Christmas everyone
