Update on my friend

Julie is in Cape Canaveral Hospital and not doing well at all. Her blood levels are almost 0 so they are trying to bring them up. They found she has an infection and have her on heavy duty antibotics but for the first time since she found out she had bone marrow cancer, she is in pain. They have her loaded up on pain mediciation so she is out of it alot. Things are not looking good and my heart is breaking. I will stay with her tomorrow and every day if I have to because her husband can't take off any more time from work and I don't want her alone at all. Besides my mom and Kimber, Julie is the only friend I have here and we are constantly talking and know everything good and bad about each other lives. I don't really know what I will do if something happens to her because she is my only friend here and my touchstone. She knows me better than my own kids do.


Please, please keep her in your prayers. I may lose my home, have no electric because of no money but I can't lose my only friend. She has fought so hard and for so long and she wants to live so please, please keep her in your prayers.

i am so sorry about your friend... i pray for her. But she is NOT your only friend. you have alot of friends. you just have to let someone in...
and you have Alex! you cannot let go of your home and your electric. your friend would never allow that if she were well enough to understand what you are going thru. if we believe in God, we are NEVER alone... you know that...
please jane... dont take Alex from his home. he only has you... your love for your friend is admirable. she is lucky to have you.

I am praying and begging as much as I can and yes Carol, I do have other friends but none here and none that I have known for over 19 years. I met Julie right after I moved here when my son Josh and her son Todd played ball together. She is the lady who kept Josh when I had to be at Shands with Kimber, she is the lady who took two of my kittens and had them until they died (11 and 13 years), she is the lady who I can cry to when there is no one else and understand and never judge me. When I had no money and food, she would go out and get us food and give me $50.00. She would buy me a dress for my birthday to cheer me up when things were really bad. She is that kind of friend. And no she would not want me to lose my house but not working on a shoestring budget hurts more than you know. I have applied for help due to the storm but so far, none has gone thru.

For Christmas, I got Julie a mustard seed necklace. They use to be easy to find but not now. She had just gone thru the stem cell transplant and was not allowed to be around people until March but I got it to her. For her 50th birthday in July, I got her a lucky penny from heaven. That is when she got to go on the cruise of her dreams to Alaska. She gets mad at me because I won't let her spoil me on my birthday because I know how much she owes in medical bills. But we always manage to find something special for each other.

I know God has his own plans and yes, I do believe in miracles and we need one right now. She may be so out of it today that she won't even know I am there with her but I will be. I will never understand her family and how they have turned their backs on her and have not been there for her at all. How a sister could wish you dead or a brother totally disappear just because you were the youngest of the four and they felt you got spoiled or given too much. She is the most unselfish person I know and that makes no sense to me. You don't and cannot turn your back on the people you love no matter what happens. When my dad was real sick, Julie sent him cards to cheer him up and it did. Not that she knows him that well but because she knows how much I love him so she did it.

Anyway, I have to go to the hospital. I will let you know how she is later.
And thanks for the prayers, she does need them.

Re Carol: When you are out of work for a month, the bills don't stop. I have applied for disaster unemployment and food stamps since once you get behind like that, it is near to impossible to dig your way out again. Two dear people sent me money to help which I am more than grateful for. I was also invited to write for Auburndale one weekend but just did not have the gas to get there but I am very grateful to them for that very kind offer. Alex has tried to help by mowing yards in our neighborhood but those are few and inbetween. My oldest son Danny is the only other one who works and right now with his medical bills, he has had no extra money to help me although he does live with me. He has type 2 diabetes and was recently in the hospital for what they thought was a heart attack and his work did not pay him while he was in the hospital (they have no sick leave at their company).

Since I had no physical damage to the house, FEMA does not have a program for a loan where I can catch everything up and since my daughter-in-law (soon to be ex) stole my identity and ran up too many credit cards in my name (charges have been filed against her but so far Brevard County has done nothing) no one will give me a loan. About the only thing I have worth anything to sell are some collector plates my grandmother gave me and my mom's 90 year old piano which I would not sell.

It is not that I want to lose the only home Alex has ever known but I am running out of options here. I don't make a fortune working for Orlando but when you don't get the little bit of money you count on, it hurts when you are on a shoestring budget. I have been looking for something part-time here to catch up but right now businesses are hurting as much as we homeowners are. But I will keep the faith and keep digging and hopefully I can dig by way out of this hole.

Lets do SOMETHING!!!! Jane is a single mom who has been raising her teen son alone. She has worked for racing for many many years and she is in trouble! Big trouble...
If you know any agency she can go to or any way she can hold on to her home and take care of herself and Alex, please let us know. There has to be some place Jane can go and get help. She is not a young woman....(not old either) but old enough that opportunities are slim...
