  • Vail wins a wet Wheelman victory at Citrus County Speedway

I would After a 90 minute plus rain delay and two renditions of the National Anthem,Jason Vail came out on top of a 22 car field in the Beckner #71 to claim the top prize in the Wheelman Sportsman Series 50 at Citrus County Speedway.Brooke Storer chased Vail across the stripe about six car lengths behind, with Dillon Sivils and Joe Winchell following.Wes Wilson notched his second in a row finishing on top of a 15 car Pure Stock field. The mini stock feature was the only other feature that saw the track last night and started twenty two cars with I believe Brian Potvin winning. But honestly I was so soaked right then I could be wrong on the mini feature winner.Pretty sure it was Potvin though. The other features(legend and mini figure8) were axed from the nights program after the long rain delay.

So let's see... Vail by six lengths over Brooke Storer.

    Any drama along the way?

No not so much Old School. I think maybe the long rain delay kept things calmed down a bit on track.Brooke Storer made a couple of impressive moves later in the going getting herself up to the runner up position after being mired back around sixth or seventh place in the first half of the race.JR Beckner's orange & yellow #71 didn't have a straight panel on it by races end from him being involved in multiple pile ups.Meanwhile Vail just stayed out front in Beckners green #71 ride. The mini stock feature which actually started 23 cars instead of 22 as I had posted last night, ran green flag all the way.Almost unheard of for a mini race with that many cars.Thomas Meyer in his #A5 pounded the wall at the exit of turn 3 after losing the r/f wheel during the feature battling for position with Travis Blotz #7.Meyer looked upset as he climbed out of the car ( for which he was dqd for exiting the car)but nothing followed that I know of.

        About Meyer's DQ

When I first saw he got dad I thought maybe it was for rough driving as he and Blotz had been battling hard for a few laps. The two made side to side contact coming down the backstretch until the pit gate when Meyer's car shot sparks and he slammed the wall.It didn't appear to me that he exited the car that early but maybe somebody else there got it on video or just has a different perspective on it.I know ever since the Tony Stewart/Kevin Ward affair tracks have been stricter about when to exit the car but if I hit anything that hard I'm not waiting around that long to get out either as long as I don't think I'm getting ran over doing it.
