  • TV - IRACING - Almost Real !!!

With all the early rain calls and easy postponements due to rain, and tracks who prefer to sit idle, maybe a new form of racing (actually been around for years) is ready to step up it's game. Viewed the Iracing ALL STAR event from the IOWA Speedway yesterday on NBCSN. First time ever this format was on national TV and I must say it was pretty interesting.Even the winner(Ottinger sp ?) had an Orlando background in his youth. Great show, almost, actually did resemble the real thing and as the TV crews keep working on this format, the advancement of the next generation of racing may not be too far away. Afterall they had 90,000 racers going for the 40 starting spots. Seems as though all the top NASCAR teams were represented. Sponsors on cars, was just like the real deal. Made me think of years ago when Pete Hamilton won the Daytona 500, I believe 1970, that race was shown live at the Bushnell in Hartford, Ct and was jam packed. Folks had predicted a failure but the event was fantastic. One big note I took away from this IRACE was the announcer, who in my opinion should jump to the top of all announcers now on TV.. This guy was good and he did announce and not just talk and ask questions. All in all a very interesting aspect of racing and as a naysayer at the start, I did change my thoughts and enjoyed. Will this be the FUTURE of Auto Racing !!! Think about the possibilities......Well see ya at the races !!!!
