I wondered for awhile if Yoho would get all the features in as lightning kept dancing in the eastern sky throughout the features. To Yoho's credit he cut the post race interviews after the Modified feature and all races ran to conclusion.Showtime continues to struggle with car counts in all divisions and last night was no different as only nine open wheel modifieds took part.Wayne Jefferson set fast time in Dick Anderson's #92 and looked to be the car to beat.A seven on the pill draw put him back in the field but he quickly worked his way up to second. An early caution flew lining him up to the outside of Nelson on the front row but as the green waved race officials sent Jefferson to the tail for jumping the restart.I would like to hear from anyone who may have been there sitting on the front stretch because from my turn four seat it appeared more to me that Nelson lagged on the restart and Jefferson fired off at the firing zone. With Nelson in control Kyle Bookmiller in the #03 Doug Miller in the #53 and a quickly closing Jefferson formed a four car train.Miller lost it coming off turn two and it set up a three way battle between Nelson,Bookmiller and Jefferson.Jefferson charged hard and on the final lap while Bookmiller washed up the track through 3 and 4 and Jefferson drag raced him to the line nosing him out for second,a fact Bookmiller lamented in the post race interviews.Nelson claimed the win in his sleek#11 but I believe if it would have been a 50 lap feature he would never have been able to hold off the closing Jefferson.Rick Haugh took the checker in the eleven car street stock feature after a lap 22 caution let him catch up to race leader Dodge Carlbert.Haugh rocketed ahead on the backstretch on the next to last lap, repeating his win from the previous week. The lap 22 caution became a red flag situation as track EMT's had to respond to a medical emergency in the stands before racing could continue. The incident that brought out the yellow involved Marty Neikens in the #70 and Casey Rounds in the #47 with Rounds charging out of the infield and doing a few donuts in front of Neikens parked car.It turned into a slam bang war of attrition with only five cars crossing the stripe at races end.The #1 Glover car won the mod mini...uh Super Mini Latemodel feature and the #94 Meyer car took the eleven car Outlaw figure 8 feature. For the second time this season Shawn Senokossof took a scary hit during the Outlaw figure 8 feature pounding the wall hard at the exit of turn four but climbing out thankfully unscathed.Support your local track this weekend as it appears another one is in jeapordy (and this time I'm talking about a dirt venue.)
