Twenty four Wheelman Sportsman qualified for last nights Wheelman Sportsman 75 lap feature at Citrus County Speedway. Only eight were around to see the finish as attrition took its toll.Joe Winchell looked to have a lock on victory leading much of the second half of the feature until on lap 73 his car owner Chad Rutherford lost power coming off turn two in his #5 machine and started drifting lower down the backstretch resulting in his car getting clipped by another and shot back up towards the pit exit gate in turn three and coming to a stop bringing out the yellow and erasing Winchell's sizable lead.Reverting back to the last completed lap it set up a three lap dash between Winchell and second place Brandon Morris.Winchell pulled ahead at the drop of the green until on the final lap Morris pulled below him coming out of turn two sending Winchell almost sidewaysJoe gathered it up and kept the lead until the two exited turn four with Morris once again dove underneath of Winchell and nudged him up the track enough to break Winchell's momentum a bit and in the resulting drag race to the stripe nipped Winchell by a bumper. In the post race interview ol' Hero voiced his displeasure regarding Morris's last lap run stating that he had came all the way from 16th to the lead without hitting anyone and wasn't so happy about how he got raced on the final lap.The night got even worse for Joe as his #92 was dq'd in post race tech moving Dillon Sivills up to second in the final run down with Devin McLeod third and Craig Cuzzone in the Allman#67 fourth.Cuzzone won the ten lap dash for cash which was supposed to start eight cars but due to the high rate of attrition only started four.John Sappriacone Jr.won the outlaw street stock feature in Richie Smith's #42 but was dqd in post race tech.Clint Foley took the modified mini feature and he too was dqd in post race tech. The mini stock feature winner experienced the same fate also getting dqd in post race tech.Almost all the features were plagued by post race dqs.On another note I want to congratulate former Columbus Motor Speedway late model and modified track champ Kyle Purvis on his victory at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola Friday night, making the long haul down from central Ohio pay off.

The first asphalt race I've attended in awhile and the Sportsmen race was awesome! Would like to have been in the pits to see the Williams/ Henley(?) conversation?
Felt bad for Morris losing his lead after a caution but I assume Joe was leading under the stripe by a little before the flag was thrown? I don't think Joe would have passed him under green.
Joe did handle the situation like a gentleman though. My new favorite driver!
