There must have been a full moon tonight I think.There isn't any other explanation.TJ Duke set fast time amongst the twenty three superlate models at Citrus County Speedway tonight.Ten minutes after qualifying ended it was announced over the PA system that he had been disqualified for the night for " unsafe actions in the pits." No further explanation but it kinda sounded like one of those doesn't play well with others moments.In his absence twenty two cars started the feature with Anthony Sergi and Patrick Staropoli putting on a display of good hard side by side and nose to tail racing over the second half of the fifty lap main.Swapping the lead back and forth doing a crossover move on each other with what looked to be a tremendous display of NOT rubbing is racing.Sergi made the last crossover move coming out of turn four coming to the white flag and held on for the win.Just about the time I learned forward to tell the guy I was talking to that was one hell of a display of close racing without grinding the paint off of each other, Staropoli jacked Sergi up in turn two on the cool down lap sending Sergi around in a circle and tearing up the sheet metal on his own otherwise pristine looking car.Staropoli was immediately dq'd by race officials making me wonder WTF was that all about?It didn't appear to me that they ever even so slightly touched each other until after the checker flag had waved.The mini stock feature saw both first and second place dq'd in post race tech ( too much camber)handing the win to the third place car.A legend car barrel rolled down the front straight during their feature finally coming to a stop in turn one after launching over the right front wheel and fender of another car as they approached the flag stand.A mini cup car slammed the front stretch wall during their feature almost knocking the entire body off of it.Wes Wilson's pure stock lost the left front wheel and tire over the turn one wall during the first heat race creating a heads up moment for anybody back in that unprotected area of the pits which has no catch fence.Three pure stocks hit the turn three wall during the feature just short of the pit exit gate sending the protective barrel of water all over anybody close enough to get a Saturday night shower.Sport Wilson and Larry Welter Jr battled back and forth after the red flag for clean up with Wilson winning the twenty car pure stock main event.It was kind of a strange night in Inverness but everything wrapped up shortly before eleven pm.Hats off to the quick efforts of the track clean up personnel for a quickly ran program.
