  • Ok You don't want to post results (tracks) but you feel no obligation?

And I will point this one directly at New Smyrna. You have a big banner ad at the top of this site advertising dirt late models for this Saturday night March 2nd.Fine.But you feel NO obligation to inform the users of this site(that don't do the Facebook thing) that you have pulled them from this Saturday's race card and rescheduled them for the MIDDLE OF JUNE? That's hogwash at best and negligent if nothing else and is just another reason people say screw it I will just sit home and watch racing on TV.How happy do you really think someone will be driving to the track with the impression that is what they are going to see until SURPRISE nope not at all. This kind of BS needs to STOP!!

Nope, not at all Old School.I don't understand a track shelling out the money to advertise an event but then feeling no obligation to try to reach the people that ad impacts to inform them that it has been cancelled.Or postponed as this case may be.Its another case of tracks depending solely on Facebook to get their info out.Usually New Smyrna has been pretty good about things like this BUT in this case here it is Thursday evening and not one mention on here about the fact the dirt late models have been replaced on this weekend's race card by the groundpounders.I have called tracks out on this kind of BS before and when they continue to do it I will continue to call them out on it.Steven Tyler was supposed to be one of the featured entertainers at this year's Strawberry Festival but for whatever the reason that night has been changed to somebody else.Do you think the Strawberry Festival has relied solely on Facebook to get the word out? No they have not.And how happy do you think people would be coming expecting one act and getting something totally different? The answer is they would likely never come back.

Agreed, Rick. She loved racing, and racing loved her.

NSS did place an ad with KARNAC, so there's a silver lining.

And regarding the other deal, SAY WHAT??

          Nothing says "strawberries" like...

It's not really a big deal, but I put that banner ad up for free because I work with Tom over at Volusia and it's a pretty unique show, so just trying to help out. (I'll overcharge him somewhere throughout this year to make up the difference). No one at New Smyrna had anything to do with that. Tom just made a banner ad and I said I would post it......nothing more or less.

I do often wonder whether to continue paying for this service out of my own pocket, and truly only do it because of people like Rick, Don Nerrone, OSF, Dave Westerman, Rex and the rest of the "old school Karnacians" and of course for Jack.

With social media connecting with billions of people, it's understandable that traffic has slowed down on our little message board, but honestly this site, as of today, got 730,485 page views over the past 12 months. Our banner ads are so cheap, if it puts 10 people in the stands, you have made your money back. There is still traffic on the "For Sale" page, so there's a great opportunity for someone to sponsor that.

Places like Speed51, SpeedShift, DirtonDirt have done tremendous work to bring live video productions to fans across the country and I can't blame tracks and series for taking advantage of their services. But honestly, other than what Dave sends to me from Auburndale, that's about all the results or press releases I ever receive.

I've been in the racing industry for almost 30 years, and for better or worse, the one constant I'm sure of, is that everything changes. At the moment, I have no plans to shut down karnac.com or the message board, but one day, it will be gone and life will go on. The earth will continue turning, and there will still be racing of some kind.......might be with electric cars, but hey, it's a sport that's bigger than all of us, so lets just enjoy what we have, for as long as we can, with the friends we have made along the way.

BUUUUUUUT........if you ARE interested in running any banner ads or discussing promotional opportunities, don't hesitate to give me a call at 352-804-0078, and if you know a friend that might benefit in some way, pass them along as well!

I want to say thanks to everyone that still is a part of the racing community that Jack built so many years ago. We have been around a looooong time and that's more than most in this business can say!

Thank you Scott for all you do for us/racing. I don't post much anymore, BUT I do check Karnac everyday to see who said what.... The old saying "You can never go back home" surely applies.... Karnac will never be the same as in the old days.... we use to really raise cane with one another.... some people thought we were really mad at each other, but it was all for entertainment...Those days can't be repeated but are good memories.

Every one likes to hate these days but I will say this. The schedule on our website was changed immediately after the announcement was made on Wednesday that the dirt LM race would be moving. Sorry for the late notice but we wanted to move the race to ensure the fans got a better show. It is not our fault that you didnt look at the schedule. as far as results go I had them up the next morning, believe it or not it takes some time to get the line ups, results and points posted. I would suggest Facebook and twitter as a great way to keep up with whats going on in general, It works much better than a message board these days.

                            Ryan,No

You aren't buying your way out of this by making an opening statement like everyone likes to hate nowadays. So put a cork in that and suck it up buddy.I guess maybe you misunderstood my point in this.My point was tracks relying almost solely on Facebook. In this particular case it actually took you longer to come on here today and post what you did than to come on here ANY day last week, notice the banner ad that even now is still at the top of this page and simply post the dirt late models scheduled this Saturday night have been pulled from the schedule.Instead of ASSUMING every one in the world does Facebook.Cmon man it's your guys racetrack, hence your business/cash flow. But seriously just think if I know there is an ad out there somewhere, shouldn't I at least take a couple minutes out of my day to inform those people there has been a change made?
