The Wheelman Series decided to run their first event of the year in Cordele, Gjawja.

Initially Patrick had no intention of going for a number of reasons, but a fellow racer up there needed setup assistance and offered to help defray the costs.

Patrick unloaded quick, got fast time, and started ninth (as is his unfortunate custom).

Moved through the field but bounced off the front stretch wall unassisted, recovered, then moved on up to challenge for the lead.

After a number of rough restarts he hit it right on the last one and pulled Travis Roland from the outside for the win.

Thanks to Brad May for deciding to make the trip with some of his crewmembers.

It was cold, but it did not rain, thankfully.

ps--For the last few seasons sponsor Jim Harris preferred to run at NSS, and Thomas' success there led to some competitors nicknaming him the "Onetrack Wonder". Going with it, Patrick had that moniker stenciled up and placed it over his name on the roof.

Reportedly it will now be coming off.

Pretty cool! I would love to see him get a shot at the higher level. Would have been interesting to have had David put him in the 11 for the World Series.

"On the subject of sportman cars, I watched [a recent Thomas win] video. Those cars are what late models should look like. Congrats to Patrick on the win and getting into great shape!"--That-Guy-That's-Not-From-Jax

I agree, he would be an asset in whatever he drives.

Sounds like it was a good run against a stout twenty car field. As cold as it was at Auburndale Saturday night, Georgia must have been a really fun place to be only colder.

Patrick lost a lot of weight. I haven’t seen him in a couple of years. He’s looking great and can wheel a race car to.
