  • Ross Chastain Lands New Ride For 2019

DC Solar and Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) announce today that the clean energy company will continue their partnership with CGR to include sponsorship of the No. 42 DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro SS in the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS). Recent series winner, Ross Chastain will compete full-time in the No. 42 DC Solar Chevy during the 2019 NXS campaign.

Chastain made the most of his career-changing three NXS starts this season driving the No. 42 DC Solar Chevy for CGR. In those three starts he led 270 of 597 laps, won a pole and captured his first series win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the DC Solar 300. Prior to his first start with CGR, he had only led 14 laps and had just one top-five and two top-10 finishes. Chastain is currently ninth in the NXS driver point standings.

Chip Ganassi just announced he is shuttering the Xfinity team, due to lack of sponsorship. DC Solar, the company that was to sponsor it, was raided by the FBI a week or so ago. I feel really bad for Ross Chastain, what a bitter disappointment.

F#&* YOU CARPOFF!!! Beyond heartbroken for Ross...

I believe at this point it's likely he will end up at JD Motorsports in the 01 car as that seat looks open at the moment.

Ganassi said he is free to drive for another NASCAR team but he is still tied to them... Whatever that means. Probably something to do with the contract he signed before everything went awry...

And poof,it was gone.Maybe Jack Roush needs someone in his car.Oh wait....Maybe Ross should go back and talk to Ganassi about that whole running those three races for free thing.Im telling you, sometimes a guy just can't win. That just sucks. He has the type of luck I have. The kind where you fall in a bed of thornless roses thinking your good, but get up smelling like the manure they were planted in.Maybe it's a December 4th birthday thing. We have that in common.

Unfortunately at the end of the day, race teams are still businesses. Talking to him about those races will do nothing. Ross will land on his feet. Part of me still expects to see him in the #1 cup car in 2020. Kurt only has a 1 year deal.

Ya know, it may come earlier than that, Phil...

Given Chip's proclivity to discard drivers, I will wager that Kurt has a non-publicly disclosed contract clause that kicks his butt right out the door if he is, let's say, inappropriate.

And I will further wager that Ross is understandably willing to drive for hot dogs and a Ganassi provided loaner moho to sleep in.

So, that may be what "Chastain is still tied to Ganassi Racing" means.

Of course, 100% of the above is made up.

Well if nothing else he didn't burn any bridges and at least for the time being looks like he still has a ride available for JDM but evidently not in the #4 car, more likely in the #01.He's a good kid ( but that and a couple bucks probably gets you a cup of dishwater coffee nowadays) and I think his 3 races in the #42 proved given a good ride he CAN wheel it.If nothing else maybe a decent seat will open up for a few truck races in 2019 and he can add to his resume moving forward.

I foresee the future and it's Harvick helping him get funding.

Indeed. How did "Harvick" and "helping" in the same sentence get past grammar check?
