  • Sept. 20 - "Thundering Herd" Returns - DCKS at Desoto Super Speedway

The "Thundering Herd" of the Desoto Champ Kart Series will make it's eighth appearance of 2008 at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, on Saturday night, September 20.

A video of a recent race at DSS (August 16) can be viewed at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L081tcdmF9k&fmt=18

The series would like to welcome any interested or curious folks to come into the pit area, to meet our drivers and crews. This series has some of the friendliest racers and crew anywhere.

Competition: In the last twenty series events, FOURTEEN different winners have triumphed!

Stars: Think this is just a "go kart" series....?? Already this season, 2007 TBARA Sprint Car Series champion Troy Decaire has participated twice (finishing second and third), along with FASCAR Truck driver Barry Bartlett (finished seventh), and 2008 DSS Late Model Points Leader Dustin Chisholm (finishing fourth).

    Purse/Payout:
And, in addition to the normal cash payout in the feature (for at least the top five drivers), several additional awards have been posted!
    --------------------------------------------------------------

GECKER MOTORSPORTS has posted the following award for the feature winner on September 20:
    • Free Clutch Rebuild Labor (any make), parts extra

Thanks to GECKER MOTORSPORTS for their support of the Desoto Champ Kart Series!
    --------------------------------------------------------------

And, if the feature winner on September 20 has VEGA TIRES (any compound) on both the right front and right rear, and has a VEGA TIRES decal on his/her kart, he/she will win one free VEGA TIRE (800)!! This is in addition to the cash payout, trophy and other contingencies that the feature winner will also get for that night!! A racer may use any left side tires that he/she wants, and still collect the award. Thanks to http://www.TSRacing.com for their support!

The Desoto Champ Kart Series would like to congratulate two of it's up and coming stars, for their great 2008 seasons!

Barry Bartlett is currently sitting second in the FASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Pro-Truck Series, with only two events remaining on the 2008 schedule! Barry has only entered one race with the Desoto Champ Kart Series as a driver in 2008, but has been a regular in the pits this year helping to crew some of his champ kart friends.

And last night, Andy Leserra did his very first radio interview on the Inside Florida Racing show! Andy was heavily involved in karting growing up, but decided to sell all of his equipment earlier this year, to purchase a truck. Unlike many youngsters coming up the ladder, Andy doesn't have rich relatives to back his racing. Even so, Andy is currently a student at Indian River State College, while working many hours and trying to get his truck on the track. Andy is a two-time WKA Deep South Pavement Series Titlist, and currently ranks third in the 2008 DCKS Florida Triple Crown points. The final race of the Triple Crown Series is November 15 at Auburndale Speedway. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to Andy if you see him at the track. He is an impressive young man!

A copy of Andy's interview will be posted as Show #56 in the next few days, at the following link:
