Green Mamba jet powered car driver, Doug Rose, dies in crash at Norway Speedway (Norway, MI). The Michigan State Police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred on Friday, August 17 at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Witnesses reported that the jet car was performing a driving display went off the track and collided with the guardrail before flipping on its side. The driver, Douglas Rose of Ring Town PA, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Norway Track personnel, Norway Fire Department, and Beacon Ambulance assisted at the scene.

I got to know Doug when I was announcing for Crash-A-Rama. His act for the shows was melting down junk cars with the intense heat from the flame that came out of the exhaust of the unusual car.
Many weren't aware that his legs were severed in a crash he had with the car in the 70's. He crash the car one other time and survived. On another occasion the car was stolen cut up and sold for the scrap metal. Each time he rebuilt the car and came back to entertain the fans. He was a determined man, who never gave up that you just had to love. He will be missed.
