Went to the track last night and the races were great. Sportsman race and superstocks had good fields and entertaining races. Smaller field in the mods but a very competative race for the lead.
Then there were the "ground pounders". These cars are great to have come to the track for the fans to see and even have a short (I mean short) exhibition race. Last night was unreal. Took a while to get them to start the heat. Then the feature was scheduled for 25 laps. I am sure they ran at least 25 under caution and finally called the race with 18 laps complete because they had oiled the entire track down. All the while lightening in the distance with the threat of rain and 2 more weekly races to get in.

They are scheduled to run last next week, we learned from that for sure. Thank you for coming!!

Would suggest that when rain is clearly coming, run the top class first, and then run them in the approximate pecking order on down.

Exception: 3 mods and 20 sportsman, or vice versa, run the top class that will put on the best show first.

It's all about de fans, boss, de fans.

I agree Old School, that's how I would do it.

Ground Pounders are Vintage race cars

Is that class racing, or "vintage racing"?

                  Bones,

Everything from 60s-ish cars to fairly contemporary in-the-weeds cavalier types. Six cylinders and eights.

An occasional metric chassis plastic replicar (at least, thats what I think it was).

Gentleman racers to some fairly hooked up cars.

Not analagous to the rest of the stuff (like, they at least try to miss each other), but worth checking out if you get the chance.

I'd rather have everyone "up to speed" than the antique displays that have happened recently. The one on the night of the Richie Evans race was scary: some 80 year old drivers putting around in 80 year old cars, while a few of the more modern cars were totally hauling butt. It was dangerous.

If they want to go, then let 'em pound ground.
