  • Staropoli takes Citrus Superlates cash home

In a field of 19 starters it was a three way fight between Patrick Staropoli,Wayne Anderson and the #10 of Steve Dorer with Staropoli being the class of the field. At least I think it was Dorer in the #10.(Citrus County you badly need a loudspeaker in turn four)Good race for sure with multiple cautions in the second half of it after a pretty clean first half. All classes were well represented with the possible exception of the outlaw street stocks which only had seven starters.Wheelman Sportsman in two weeks.Sounds like a plan.

Another great show at Citrus County. Congratulations to Patrick Staropoli on a well deserved win. And thanks to all of the racers and fans who make Citrus County Speedway the place to be every Saturday night.

Does anybody give the full results for Citrus County Speedway anymore. They used to be posted a day or so after the race. What happened? Even though I cannot make it to each weeks race, I still like to keep track of the results. What has happened to their PR department? They have no results posted on their web site.

I could be wrong but I believe that is a negatory.John Berti used to post results for Citrus County here on Karnac and up to some point last season was also the track announcer there also but evidently the two have parted ways. But only Mr.Berti or the Speedway can speak to if I am wrong about that.

Rick Day is usually pretty good about getting Showtime's results on here but nothing this week... Amazing that some of these tracks can post lousy videos of stuff on their Facebook page but post no results there or ever update their website... NSS gets their site updated usually by Monday but never anything for Citrus, Showtime or 417... All the dirt tracks are pretty good about updating their sites though....

I was unceremoniously dismissed as the announcer at Citrus County Speedway about a month before the start of the 2018 racing season. I was told the reason was a new sponsor that the track picked up wanted to have their choice as to whom the announcer would be and that announcer would not be me.

To say that I was shocked was putting it mildly. I always prided myself as giving any track at which I worked 110% going well beyond what would be expected of the typical race track announcer. I never missed a night of announcing at Citrus County Speedway for the current management. For that matter the same could be said about any track or traveling series for which I was employed over my long announcing career understandably discounting a portion of 2014 when I had a heart attack, subsequent double bypass heart surgery and rehabilitation. It would seem that dedication and going the extra mile are tossed aside by the present management of at CCS in favor of sponsorship money.

Ironically I was asked if I would help them cover ten race dates upon which "The Announcer of Choice" would not be available. I am not the vindictive type so being the class person that I am I said I'd help on the dates if I was available. After all I had to seek alternative employment in an attempt to make up for as much of the loss of income from being released by the track as is possible.
