NASCAR sure was not going to call it, either. How bad would it look for Aric to win the first time out in their little darling's old car. Plus, the number 3 won, which they see as great for ratings.

Amirola had it won till Dillion knocked him out of the way on last lap .
Cheap shot ....
Blocking is blocking, if you are going to do it, be ready two pay the price. Seems like I seen a Black #3 car blocking about 17 years ago for team cars running 1-2-3. He paid a huge price that day, and racing has never been the same. The start of the end of Nastycar. Sorry to post this but facts are facts. After that, you seen a lot of drivers starting to make their Exit Plans over the next few years. When the man that was bigger then life died, the world changed for a lot of people. Many race fans walked away that day, never to retun
Here's how I see it from the linked replay of the cars coming down the back straight head on...
The 3 made the initial move to the left at which time the 10 also moved in an attempt to block. When the 10 made that move, they touched bumpers and it made the back of the 10 snap loose. The nose of the new Chevy is pointed which did not help this situation at all. After his initial move left, the 3 never deviated from his line. He didn't RR the 10 like everyone keeps claiming all over the internet and I firmly believe there was no intent to wreck him either. When the 10 started around from the initial contact, there was nothing the 3 could do. No real time to react. He did the best thing for himself and his race at that point and didnt lift. If he lifts, the 43 runs into him or drives around him.
I'm not a fan of either, but looking at this with the right camera angle and a little unbiased common sense tells the true story of what happened.
Which driver (excluding Mikey following Jr) wouldn't have taken that shot?
If you want to win, you have to be strong enough to be a length out front--and only a length.
But Almirola was not in control of the situation, got too far out in front, and then kind of stalled with the low line. When he moved back up he was a sitting duck, and the inevitable happened.
Somehow what is "dirty" & what is "clean" driving is all different at plate races.
No real opinion on the wreck.I think it was just a racing deal more than anything else.I am a little confused about the lack of an immediate yellow when the lead car goes head on into the wall in a perfect position to ricochet down off the wall and become a pinball. As soon as he hit the wall the yellow should have been displayed.

Completely agree with xracer and the boneman blocking does not come without consequences.Blaney got robbed by the caution because he had Truex behind him who was down on power. The blood suckers got their mayhem and Nascar got its controversy.Almirola said himself that's the price of blocking. For the record I love the number 3 but I cannot stand either of the Dillons. While most racers start by getting their hands greasy they started out in driving school with premium equipment all the way. Are they talented sadly yes so I will continue to see them up front.
xracer54 has got it. No one got punted here; the blocker took himself out.
I watched the in car camera on Hamlin running inside front. Aric moving back and forth between Hamlin and Austin and lost air causing the rear to kick out. He was undecided which one to block and caused his own wreck. Watched the video several times, same conclusion. if it hadn't been Austin, it would have been Hamlin. IMHO.
