  • Festival Park in Zephyrhills

I stumbled across a little info about Festival Park on Route 301 outside of Zephyrhills. It seems that it has a 1/4 or 1/3 mile dirt oval that up until around the earlier part of this decade had DAARA events there.Anybody have more info about the place and was it ever a functioning speedway?

It was a neat little track, and the site of my first ride in a vintage TQ. My buddy Vaughn Rockney hooked me up with his car for a day in 2010.

They race classic and antique race cars there every year during the car show/auction. If you like old race cars, it's a very good show.

I have found very little info about the place other than the fact that there is a car auction and corral held there as well as some DAARA events in it's past.I was curious to what was the purpose of there even being a track located there to begin with if it was never an operating speedway and how much/little it has ever been used.

Never a working Speedway, just a flat 1/4 mile dirt track built for the Vintage racers shows during the Swap meets. Two 4 day shows a year, Fall & Winter would pack the place, over 100 Midgets at their peak would participate. I believe AARA from Ohio started the shows with DAARA from Florida taking over at some point. It was a great place to enjoy auto swap meets, car auctions, and some old time dirt racing, stands would be packed with Snowbirds. I know some Vintage racers who moved to Zephyrhills just because it was such a big event.
