  • Sprints in 2009

With the success of this past weekend's Sprint Car Challenge at Ocala & Volusia can we hope to see sprints at least once a month at those tracks next season? It would be great if Ocala, North Florida, Volusia & East Bay could offer track championships next season for sprint cars!

Already saving my pennies for Speedweeks 2009! 410s at Ocala is going to be AWESOME!

I used to go to Ocala for the All Star sprint shows back before they paved the place. It was some of the wildest sprint car racing I've ever seen. That is one of my all time favorite tracks. It's really got character! I ran there about 5 or 6 times with the Legends and I'm still not quite sure how many turns it really has!
Bones heal, chicks dig scars, pain is temporary but GLORY is FOREVER!! Or, the older I get the faster I WAS!

You are about 850 miles to far south. Williams Grove, Selingsgrove, Port Royal. They run the 410's and the 360's. they key is the Super Sportsmen class where is is a Sprint car with a Carb so they can get started.
Remember that there needs to be a TRUE minor league so you can earn and learn before you go with the big boys.
I would like to see what you say but can it be done in door slammer world?

I never ever say this since I moved to Florida BUT as we said up in PA Real Race Cars Do Not Have Doors!!

George, I think there are enough transplanted "Northerners" in Florida to have a semi-weekly, if at the very least monthly sprint car division at the local dirt tracks and be a sucess. With some of the rules packages down here its no worse than running a late model (and they run all the time). The problem with the sprints down here right now is that they think they are a "travelling series."

Phil & Liz G at North Florida and Mike at Ocala are trying but the "travelling series" mentality is making it tough. It can be done. East Bay did it for years before the current management virtually kicked sprints to the curb.

George you left out the part about real racecars don't have fenders either.
