  • Great Run For Ryan Preece in 20 JGR

Ryan has a ton of talent to bad he was stuck in a stop and park car last couple of years. That Driver has a lot of talent. Bet Grandpa who had many NASCAR
Champion Cars with The Famed 2X Modified

I was pulling for him the hole race. He has a lot of talent and the best thing about both of the interviews I've seen with him he is very appreciative of all the help he as had to get him to where he is at. Hopefully someone noticed his talent and signs him up.

      Wonder where Zerofor is today?

Having known Ryan for a number of years, it's not surprising to me to see him park that 20 car in Victory Lane... The kid has incredible natural speed in everything he drives. He's kicked my ass more than a few times in Karts and on iRacing hahahah! I use to do a bunch of incar GoPro stuff with Ryan back in 2012 and 2013 trying to learn from how he drives. The kid is just next level compared to a schmo like me. Seeing a sponsor that he and I have shared for many years on the side of that car in Victory Lane was pretty damn cool too and I am super happy for them to get that recognition on a national level like that.

If a full time opportunity in a good car does not come from this, consider our sport dead. The second talent like this can no longer secure a sponsor and a ride like the old days, it's over.

        Well now,

Where do you think I am Phil? I've been out gathering pop bottles to cash in to buy those cold ones for whenever I run into you guys.I only saw the first ten laps Saturday so all I really heard was Ryan Preece had won.I never even heard who finished where on back.My brother said he watched it ( and yes he is also a Chastain fan) and said he heard something during the broadcast (but I don't know if it's true since he gives me a lot of misinformation) He said that the money Preece made last year in the JDM ride he used to pay for two starts this year in a quality ride.If that's true it was a wise ( and somewhat gutsy) move. That could blow up miserably in a guys face but fortunately for him didn't. In a perfect world you would think a win and runner up finish would get you a good ride but what's perfect about this world? Congrats to him nonetheless and with all the moving and shaking going on in cup at the end of the season it could put him in a cup ride at least for a limited number of starts. But when they start talking about a guy like Matt Kenseth possibly sitting on the outside looking in next season who can say what will happen.

I haven't really spoken to Ryan too much this year, but as far as I have heard, yes, that money did help him, however his local sponsors did as well.

All I know is it's nice to see a driver (whether you know him or not) WORK for an opportunity, rather than have mommy and daddy fund them. It's rare these days.

There's kids like him all over the country. It's depressing that so few get the opportunity he did anymore. This sport is doomed if this trend continues much longer imo.

Sorry to tell you, but talent alone won't get you a ride anymore. If you can't bring a sponsor, or write the check yourself, Dale Sr. couldn't get a seat today.

Yes, it's overwhelmingly money over talent to get in the top 3 series right now, however there ARE a few unicorns who did make their way by a car owner taking a chance still around. I agree it will likely take a sponsor for Ryan to get a chance, or a car owner like Gibbs convincing one of his existing sponsors to take a chance. With Kenseth out of the fold, it opens a big door for more races, especially with the rules cutting back participation for Kyle Busch yet again. And, with Matt Tifft showing mediocre performance and not signed past this year, I think you'll see Ryan in the #19 in 2018.

I heard the incredible story of him pushing it all in for two races at JGR too.

There's also a new opening at Stewart Haas, so maybe Ryan will get a shot at that one.
