  • Anderson Claims OWM Bounty Hunter Money At Citrus County 7/15/17

Legendary great Dickie Anderson brought his ultra sharp, ultra fast open wheel modified #7 with his son, Wayne, behind the wheel to form a potent combination to lay claim to bounty hunter cash at Citrus County Speedway last night.

The total of $720 bounty hunter cash put up through the joint effort of Floral City Animal Clinic, Don's Plumbing, and Ladies Touch Painting would go to the driver who could beat Richie Smith, the most successful driver and point leader at CCS. To claim the cash the bounty hunter had to start behind Smith and beat him to to checkers. Smith's car had to be running right to the end.

Time trial qualifying with an inversion determined the starting line up. Anderson set fast time with a lap at 13.668 seconds The inverson was five. Three additional drivers accepted the bounty hunter challlenge: Herb Neumann, James Ellis and Gator Hise. Smith started outside pole, Neumann on the pole, Anderson 3rd, Ellis 4th and Hise 5th.

Smith took the early lead but could not sustain it with Anderson overtaking him at around the midpoint of the 50 lap feature. Anderson's margin of victory over Smith was 3.108 seconds The Andersons took home a grand total of $1,720 for the win.

Congratulations to Wayne Anderson and the entire Dick Anderson team on their win in the Renegade Racing Fuels Open Wheel Modified feature. They had to be some very good racers to win it.

Kevin Harrod ran a great race to win the Mod Minis (must have been the decals), Scott Werstein drove a very good race in the Minis, Shannon Kennedy really had the car to beat in the Outlaw Street Stocks, and Sport Wilson battled to another very popular win in the Pure Stock feature.

I don't see Mysterious Randy losing a Fan race anytime soon.

Wow... good money on the line and only 11 cars show up? What's with that... Also been a long time since I've seen the Mod Minis have the biggest car count of the night - anywhere!

Good question about the OWM turnout, the other OWM teams might have been busy with other things. But the cars that did show put on a heck of a race and made some money. The fans didn't mind the 11 car field at all.
The Mod Minis are really starting to like Citrus and i expect that class will keep growing.

Congratulations to Dick and Wayne. Am hoping to see that combo race sometime soon.

I would not be as concerned over 11 cars as a margin of victory of over 3 seconds, show wise.

They have some quick modifieds at NSS, perhaps the Andersons will drop in and see how they stack up against the high dollar locals some time.

They have and they do. In the case of Dick Anderson, it's much more about racing knowledge and experience than money. Same goes for Dave Pletcher. Between Citrus and Showtime there are some very good race cars in all classes. I see more and more racers running both tracks and i hope it continues.

You might be right, although Dick Anderson's was one of those cars that was DQd, yet he's back to racing at Citrus.
