I don't know where he's going to find support. Theres at least 7 racers above that say it doesn't matter and he still is adament about a subject that doesn't amount to a hill of ants. If hes a racer he has never raced in the south, because thats the way we do things in the south. About points, the people that would get a free pass and a pit slab once in a while aren't usually in contention for points. If they are, they would be considered regulars and not get any freebes. The stupity of this is argueing about something you have absolutely no control over, and its been happening for a bunch of years in the south. Bob.........

Forget it. This guy just doesn't get it. They would have had 8 cars in the Sportsmen race if Aaron and Jason hadn't showed up after a 2 hour drive ONE WAY! Bobbie is trying to help restart Fla. short track racing. Which is dieing here in this state. And unless more owners start thinking like him. Thiers could be the next track to go under.

The only input i will add to this is that when bobby D took over @ that track with his wild ideas and posts about how great it would be the way he's going to do it i beat him on here like a rented mule.

some of his ideas washed in my opinion, then, he started getting BETTER ideas and they began working out for EVERYONE involved.

He has turned a complete 180 and has had much success for EVERYONE'S benefit.

I have since came on here and commended him for his efforts and(ate a little crow) saying i jumped the gun before he had a chance to show what could be done.

I have no real comment pertaining to the reason or outcome of this thread other than, butts in the seats, cars on the track, and haven't heard any major complaints from anyone going to the shows down there.

So, Bobby.....keep em in the seats and on the track as you have been.

Boy Darren , judging by the majority of posts here it looks like some people forgot to eat their prunes today . Your're right about racers being allowed to come in and race for free after you and the other regulars have had to pay good money . Hardly seems fair . And you're also right about racers who aren't running for points coming in and taking a fourth place away and moving you to fifth thus losing points that you need . And of course any money the outsiders take home came courtesy of your entry fee .
But the fact is , race cars are in short supply , so the tracks have to attract them any way they can . Eventually , if racers do show up at two tracks per night , and not just one or two , the car count goes up as does the fan count , and then these track owners i'm sure will spread the new money around to the racers like you .

Where does Darren race? Never heard from/about him before and he sure hasn't posted very much. How much did Darren lose in money and points when those awful track owners offered a free ticket/slab?

I will gladly help in the collection to make up all that he lost. Poor fella, I kind of know what he is up against... I remember when I was a child and one of the kids in the neighborhood got a free ice cream and none of the others did...I have been hurt ever since and it hurts real bad everytime I see an ice cream truck.... So poor Darren is probably going through the same thing.

Oh....I'm not supporting his views of what CCMP or Auburndale did for or to their racers. Far from it. In this day and age promoters need to try each and every gimmick or giveaway it takes to put the fan base back in the seats at Florida's short tracks and stop the self-destructive trend of living off the back gate receipts. So no, I don't agree with him on that.

What I do have an issue with is after he makes a fairly well reasoned, non-derogatory post with a valid and, judging by ya'll's emotionally charged responses, a topically relevant point.....he gets lambasted for expressing his opinion, called names like ya'll were on an elementary school playground and challenged to find other racers who share his feelings.

How many times have we heard from the venerable Miss Wicks that everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one has to defend themselves and/or what they choose to post about. I mean, this guy must have really struck a nerve to get some of ya'll so riled up about it. He even put at the end of his post..."this is what i think". And BAM....here come the hyenas. C'mon Carol! Stand up for this guys right to his opinion! His is every bit as worthy as yours, mine or anybody's.....right? Right?!?

And OSF.....aren't you a moderator? What happened to the little rule there back on the front page for forums.....something about "no flaming"? Easier to jump on a bandwagon than to jump off, I guess.

NOPE... OSF is not a moderator... can't be cause nothing offends me...it'd be a total waste of time to make me a moderator (although I have been unofficially named "One of the Chosen Few" - god bless the one that did that).

Find me a time when I ever called you a name or cursed you on this board. Show me where I did that to anybody on here. I can't help how you feel if something I post makes you stop and re-evaluate your own position or what you might have written.
Numerous times you've stated how thick skinned you are and nothing/nobody gets under you're skin and no one will ever chase you away from this board.

But now I insult you and hurt your feelings. I just don't get it.

These are the types of deals I take exception with. Which is it? Maybe my problem is I see things too much in black and white. Yes or no. Right or wrong. That's actually yet another reason why I haven't been posting too much lately. Trying to let things just slide by without comment for a while. Been here done this......I could show you plenty of examples had every post I ever made on the old board not been erased from existence. Not one or two, mind you.....ALL of them. I must have really yanked the wrong chain, huh? Remember any of this, Carol? Wasn't that long ago. You were my friend right up until you stabbed me in the back. So if my words are sharp and cutting, maybe they were honed by that same knife. Now there's some drama for you guys!

I could keep going on but really.....why? It gets boring for everyone else.
