  • This is what I think and remember what he wrote

On this page a few threads down below this one. Bobby Diehl wrote about some agreement made between CCMP and Auburndale Speedway. Great, glad to see it. However, when no one had anything good to say about Mr. Guy of Auburndale Speedway, Bobby Diehl made himself look like a promoter hero.
Go back to page 8, dated 7/15/08 under thread "Attention all racers." I'm not going to quote it, go back and read his words. What it came down to was, he was letting someone come race at his track FREE against his drivers that had paid. Maybe take prize money from his drivers that had to pay to race. So, why is his track having the sportsman feature first? Why not honor what he wrote to make himself look so good. If the answer is because the drivers that will be doing this are only the drivers that live in the Auburndale area or in the middle of the state and it would make it a long night for them then maybe Mr. Diehl sure let them race free if they tell CCMP when they sign in that they will be racing at both tracks. He asked and this is what I think.

    oh boy!

first of all....bobby never came on here and talked bad about Guy... he simply made an offer..he IS a promoter. he is SUPPOSED to promote his track.. bobby lets the OWM guys race first so they can make it up to auburndale to race there too. it was done to help the drivers and Aaron and the other guy (sorry forgot his name) were able to race at both tracks because of Bobbys kindness.
Bobby Diehl is by nature a very kind man and he would have alot more money if he wasnt. we yell at him all the time for giving so much away...
i talked at length with Aaron Williamson last night and today. He loves coming to CCMP and for the same reason i hear alot of guys say.."because they treat us so good... with respect".... after Aaron raced at CCMP he did race at Auburndale and was treated decently up there too this time. so maybe something good came of all the controversy..hope so...
there are no perfect tracks, no perfect owners, and no perfect racers! but some are kinder and more giving than others. Bobby Diehl is a kind decent generous man ..he makes mistakes but he makes up for them...
all he did was make an offer to anyone who wasnt happy. a chance to race with us.
whether our seats are filled or not, whether we have SLM or Road warriors, somehow we always have fun... the atmosphere is friendly !!
he((, last night we were getting devoured by mosquitoes and bobby walked thru the stands with OFF for anyone who needed a spray. those are the kind of things we love him for.
if each track works hard to take care of their own business and not worry about another track, they will be spending their time wisely... all the bitterness and dirty tactics will hurt you in the end... i never believed that good guys finish last... in the end they win!
Desoto made a huge comeback last night. KUDOS to all who made that happen. it is a great race track and the fans and drivers are awesome. if everyone in racing work hard to make it a fun sport and project good feelings, they can all do the same thing. there are enough people and drivers to go around! hope all the SLM racers that raced at DSS will head down to CCMP next so that all the people in SW florida get to enjoy your show. we love you too!!! ;-)

just my feelings. i might be wrong.

It's still a bad rule that a drivers can't race for points, just because he raced at another track the same night. But at least he was able to race this time.

        Oh well

I didn't say that Mr. Diehl said anything bad about Mr. Guy. I was bringing up a point. If you were a reg. driver in a class at CCMP and that was the only place you raced is that a fair deal to race against someone who did not pay the same as you? Fair is fair. He asked and that his what I think.

          read again.

I pulled this from the post."offer any driver that first races at any other track and then
travels to our track to make a race here at CCMP. All a driver has to do is call
our track, (941-575-7223) say they are on there way and bring there armband from
that track and we will give them free pit parking and "one" free entry into the
pits for a spouse, or family member or crew Cheif,"

It sounds like to me that the driver still has to pay to race ,but he gets a parking slab free, and a free pit pass for a spouse, or family member or crew Cheif. Thats what it looks like to me.

            Oh I see

Oh I see, free pit parking, one free pass for someone else, gee whiz that is still something free, that is a heck of lot more then is reg. drivers will get free.
I have no ideal what the pit parking cost is, however, wouldn't that be used to help make the pay out. But that doesn't matter if it is or not. A reg. driver is still racing against someone that got a freebe.

I am pretty sure that these drivers coming from auburndale are spending more in gas to get to and from the track than they are spending on a pit slab fee. What bobby is trying to do i believe is entice other drivers to come to his track to give the fans a better show. Dont know about you, but i would rather race in front of a larger crowd, and putting on a good show with more cars will do that.

There are tracks that i have raced at before that will actually pay people a little more if they travel more than a certain amount of miles to get to the track. Its usually given away as a "long haul award". Are you going to complain about that as well? That, in essence, is what is going on in this situation. How about instead of complaining, how about you thank a track owner for trying to make racing better for the fans and the drivers.

The decision to let them race with you "paying" racers, ain't taking money OUT of your pocket is it? Quit being such a cry baby!

I really dont see what the big deal is. I know it happens but honestly, how many drivers will show up to the track by themselves. Car counts get fans interested, interested fans come back with more fans. Personally, it would not bother me if my competitor came from another track and one of his crew members got it for free, I usually have alot more to worry about. I think it would be great if it worked both ways. Maybe its a step in the right direction.

                      Darren

How does any of this concern you? If half of the drivers got one (1) free pass and one (1) free slab for arriving at track B after they raced at track A, who is out what? How many drivers are bitchin about this? Are you a driver or a bench warmer with an enlarged nose?
As I see it, track B got more income from arriving drivers, crew, family etc than they would have if no one came at all after racing at track A (so track B is a winner), the fans got to see a better field of cars (so the fans win), drivers have more competion to show their abilities (so drivers win)... but poor old Darren (he is the only one complaining about NOTHING!).

Darren, bet you wished you had found something else to post about than this NOTHING issue.

I suggest track B ups the amount of free stuff to bring in more drivers, ie, one (1) free pass to crew, family etc, one (1) free slab and perhaps one (1) free meal and call it the "Darren PO BOY Award Meal". Then you can complain some more cause everyone's not getting a DARREN Free Meal.

I know its a step in the right direction. Bobby has done that for some time, and as a result there are people that race there that pull past another track to come to CCMP. I don't drive any more but when I did I would have been happy to have a large field of cars to compete with. It makes raceing more fun and I wouldn't care if they were payed to come or not. The only thing we as racers should be concerned about is the promoter trying to alter the out come of a race. Just ask some that have raced a 25 lap feature with 4 or 5 cars. It ain't fun to drive and its on the level of watching paint dry for the fans. Just my take. Bob.......

                          So lets see

So lets see, 1st, Marshall, just in case I am from up north, what is your point?
People post on here all the time about the tracks they go to when they are visiting up north. Packed stands, great car count. Drivers race 2 to 3 nights aweek. 2nd, calres22, long haul money or tow money seen that before most of the time it was for a reg. that comes every week that broke before their race. However, next time you are at your reg. eating or drinking place that you go to ALL the time and someone from up north gets a free piece of pie or beer let me know what your first thought is. Don't tell me now what it would me, wait until it happens. 3rd, RSB and Round D Round, you are the smart ones. RDR I stand by what I wrote and glad of it. Yes please give more away to the people coming to track B from track A. The track will at first make more money until the reg. drivers really understand what is going on. The reg drivers racing for points and championships will see that a outsider that got freebes cost them points. Oh, do you get fries with that free meal. RSB, your comment is really stupid, of course it could cost me money. At the end of the season for points money. RDR and RSB, both of you have two of the biggest business cerbruls I have every seen. Buy a racetrack and run it, you will make alot of money.

                            OH Darren

Where O Where are your supporters on this very important issue?

Where does the line stop (of drivers that are concerned about someone getting a free pass and a free slab)?

If drivers are worried about running for points with "Outsiders" coming in, they might need to find another sport, because that is the nature of the beast...unless of course you have a CLOSED event - allowing only those running for points to participate (not seen too much here in da south son).

SOOOooooo, we will be waiting for your SUPPORT on this very important issue. (haven't seen too much support in the above entries).

However, if I had made such a crummy issue about nothing, I'd go back to my original post and DELETE IT.. and all the responses would go away as well. That way, those that have not seen the stupidity won't have the chance to.

                            Think about it...... D E L E T E first post - poof, it all goes away.

                              Oh Round D Round Racer

I didn't think about getting supporters for my issue nor cared about a line of drivers to back my view. However, lets talk about stupidity. You must think this is a cause that you must stand up against. But like the four people that are running for pres. and vp when they can't get their views across they have to attack the other person. So why would I want to delete this, other people get to see your views also.
