Why are there not any figure 8 races in FLorida anymore. I know they used to have them pretty regularly at OSW when I was younger.

Your asking why we don't have a lot of figure 8's in Fl. I think the main reason was the liability. We had a fair share of people hurt badly and I think the insurance co's refused to insure the tracks that ran pro figure 8's. They were always a fan favorite and I personally knew a lot of figure 8 drivers that had to find other outlets. A few years ago the figure 8 busses became popular. They always draw a crowd. In the late 80's and early 90's Sunshine used to host the winter figure 8 nationals. They always drew cars fro the north. Islip Ny cars I can remember. Bob.....

i think if we do it too often it will lose its flair. its a good "special" event.
i still say that the most exciting race i ever saw was the Outlaw Late Model Fig. 8...the guys from Sunshine came down and had us on the edge of our seats screaming. we almost did lose one of our own tho and that was scary. LB Scaggs got creamed in the X... thank God he was ok...

Auburndale Speedway runs the Pro Figure-8'S every other week. They have been having good fields and good races.

Does Citrus County still run them? In the late 80's and early 90's, they ran them twice a month. I Always planned my trips there when they ran.
