  • New affordable division to debut at Citrus County Speedway June 17th

There's an all new racing division making it's debut at Citrus County Speedway on Saturday, June 17th. It's the affordable Road Warriors division for those who have always wanted to race, but found it too costly to do so. For a $500-$1000 investment you are on the track, racing and having fun.

Here is a link to the rules: http://www.citruscountyspeedwayandtr.../road-warriors...

We realize the car counts may be a little low at the beginning, but we are anticipating around 30 of this type of race car to compete as more and more folks start building them in the months ahead.

ALL race tracks should have a division like this.
    Great job Citrus County Speedway.

Another great idea from the new Citrus County Speedway! A class like this will allow local racers and first time racers to compete heads up on a budget. And the track already has a fuel on hand for these cars.

Showtime has had a crown vic class like this, it looks like Citrus included V6 cars too, at one time Punta Gorda or Desoto was to start a V6 front wheel drive class but never got going, interesting to see what they get

          Citrus class

Sounds like a fun class to start out in . Additional rules ideas
Can not be a driver in another division
Must not have won a class championship in the last 5 years
Must have a valid drivers license
What is going to be the payoff break down ?

Just what Florida needs, more classes of not-race-cars racing. That ought to pack the stands! Where are you getting the idea that it would cost $1000 or less? The racing seat, belts, lexan and unbuilt cage are going to put you over $1k, and you haven't bought a car yet.
I guess if it works, great. Just make sure you're checking the cages carefully. These aren't 2300 pound mini stocks banging into a each other. These cars are heavy enough to cause some serious damage when one gets drilled.

Luke81 (thought it was Luke41) knows what he's talking about.... if someone gets seriously hurt (or worse), there will be liability issues for sure... OSF

Thanks sir, but I wouldn't go that far....I just guess right sometimes.
It just seems awful sketchy when you're preaching very, very low dollars but big heavy cars. You're going to have everyone in the cheapest possible seat with no headrests and no HANS, cheap helmets, questionable cages and single layer fire suits with no fuel cells. And 4000 pound + cars with inexperienced drivers.
Why does the bar have to keep getting lower? The 4cyl bombers are cool cars, and pretty safe. I've driven my friend's car, it seems totally safe to me. I'm not sure I'd feel the same about a crown vic.

I may be missing something here but can anybody tell me the logic of not requiring a fuel cell,Reinforced right front wheel, and several other things that come to my mind BUT requiring a lexan windshield? If the whole point is keeping them cheap why the lexan? Cars don't come from the factory with one and buying lexan ain't like buying a bag of chips. If you aren't concerned about the safety issues of these other things lacking, then why bother with the lexan? And as Luke 81 noted in what state or third world country maybe the better question, are you buying a running driving vehicle, slapping a cage AND lexan in it and not blowing WAY past a grand.I knew a guy that did just that though....

Speaking of Crown Vics, my first race car was an x cop car Crown Vic with a Firebird seat that I raced in the Run a Bout class at Orlando Speedworld. I had a cage but I don't think one was required...For quite a while, there were at least 35 to 45 cars in the class every Friday night. Once I remember there being 48. That's the night I totaled the Crown Vic in a head on crash. FUN!FUN! LOL! Oh yeah, a stock windshield too!
