  • Autenrieth, Peters, Herrod and Hindman winners in 6/3 rain shorten Citrus Cty event

Citrus County Speedway management tried all they could to get the entire race program in last night, but reluctantly had to admit it wasn't going to be cancelling the remainder of the racing for the night. Two factors weighed in on the decision: persistent on and off rain and the 11 p.m. county imposed curfew. Two more features remained to be run, outlaw street stocks and open wheel modifieds with the safety of the competitors of utmost concern.

Here are the results from features that were run.

    5. 2 Noah Souza
    6. 44 Zachary Stultz
    7. 52 Chris Rummel

    5. 20 William Hindman
    6. 09 Bubba Martone
    7. 99 Paul Koci
    8. 65 Happy Florian

My apologies for not making a point of that. Eleven laps before it was officially called a race due to rainfall. CCS management decided to move on to the demolition derby which could be run in the moderate rain we were experiencing. Unfortunately the rain was still on and off until about 10:15 when the night of racing was officially cancelled. There was no way we could have dried the track significantly even if the rain totally stopped to provide a safe track before the 11 p.m. curfew.

No worries John.. I wasn't sure how many they ran to begin with because as soon as it started sprinkling, I headed off the track at the advise of the rescue crew.

Thanks to all of the fans and racers who came out Saturday night. And a big thanks to the hard working owners and crew at Citrus County for making the attempt to outfox Mother Nature. It just goes to show how serious Citrus County is about providing racing for the fans.
