  • New Open Wheel Modified Rules At Citrus County Speedway For 2017

It's a fresh new year. Time to extend the olive branch for a fresh new start between open wheel modified competitors and Citrus County Speedway. We've altered the rules at the urges of many open wheel modified car owners and drivers. You may check out those changes at the Citrus County Speedway website: http://www.citruscountyspeedwayandtr...idelines8.html. Simply said if your open wheel modified is legal to race per Showtime Speedway rules you'll be fine to race with us this coming Saturday, May 6 and beyond. Let's have a strong turnout of cars for the fans. Fans, please note new front gate opening time and new start time for the racing program.

Making the rules uniform across several tracks is always the best way to increase car count at the tracks involved, but more important, to get OWMs out of the garage and back racing.
I noticed on the Citrus County Speedway website under the class photos section ( fantastic idea, how come other tracks don't do the same ) that a lot of OWMs that raced there last year seem to have disappeared from the scene for 2017. A lot of the cars pictured don't seem to be racing anywhere this season. And a lot of the ones who are racing, only seem to race now and then.
Even with more race tracks up and running, all the OWMs on the Citrus County site along with plenty more that didn't race there last year could sure fill a pit area. I hope the class gets back to where it was, because they sure put on a good show.
