I'm glad a lot of these guys came down to Florida. These were the good days.

Founder Art Frigo used his name for the series.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

        Thank you for posting this

It indeed was a very great period in short track racing.Sadly I never attended an Artgo event as they mainly raced in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. I did have the opportunity to take in some ASA events during the same time period and several of those guys would race in both series.I still possess an old ASA program from the same period and came across a very cool hard cover book with color pictures galore of the old ASA events,Southern All Pro Series and basically all forms of racing.I just have never figured out how to post pictures on here.

Art Frigo created the series with the help of Bob Roper and John McKarns. He came up with the name by taking his first full name and the last two letters of his last name, coming up with the name ARTGO wiki

I used to follow that series back when I read Stock Car Racing and when the cars occasionally showed up in Florida for the World Series and etc.

I don't think I ever knew where the acronym, er, contraction, came from.

I believe he picked the best letters for the name of his series...
