MOD MINI 50 AND FIGURE-8'S HEADLINE SATURDAY NIGHT AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY

Auburndale Speedway returns to action this Saturday night with a six division racing program highlighted by the second Sunshine State Challenge Series Modified Mini Stock 50 lap race of the season plus the return of the wild 'n crazy Figure-8 cars. Also in action will be the Legend Cars, V-8 Bombers, Mini Stocks and the Scramblers.

Tyler Simpson of New Smyrna Beach won the 50 lap Mod Mini contest on January 15th and is expected to try and make in two-for-two Saturday night. He'll face a number of challengers including February 19th Mod Mini winner Chuck Frazier, 2016 Mod Mini track champion Chris Spring, Keith Roggen, Jimmy Frazier, Kenny Lawrence, Jeff Firestine, Mike Kerrivan, Ray Miller, Anthony Laponit, Wayne Stenstrom and others.

Perennial favorite Wayne Calkins had his Figure-8 win streak snapped last time out as local hot shoe Preston Davis led the race through the "X" from green to checker. Calkins hopes to again find victory lane but Davis will have other things to say along with the likes of Joey Caterelli, Michael Cherry, Jared Meyer, Cliff Rousseau, Wayne Whitehead and Ed Schultz.

A pair of drivers look to remain unbeaten for the 2017 season as Seth Adams in the Legend Cars and Chris Narramore, Sr. in the Mini Stocks hope to cross the stripe first yet again and add more win stickers to their cars. Meanwhile, four different drivers have tasted victory in the Scrambler class including Keith Cantrill who picked up his first career win two weeks ago.

Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm with practice by rotation for all classes from 3:30-5:30 pm. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with qualifying for the SSCS Mod Mini Stocks at 6:15 pm.

Racing begins at 7 pm with 8-lap heat races for the Scramblers, Mini Stocks, V-8 Bombers and Legend Cars. Feature racing follows with a 20 lap contest for the Scramblers and 25 laps for the Mini Stocks before intermission. After intermission the V-8 Bombers go for 25 laps followed by a 25-lapper for the Legend Cars. The SSCS Mod Mini 50 is next then the evening concludes with the action-packed 25-lap run for the Figure-8's.

Adult admission is $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are just $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
