SSCS SUPER LATE MODELS BACK IN ACTION SATURDAY NIGHT AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY
After a two week break, Auburndale Speedway returns to Stock Car Racing Saturday night with six divisions in action on what should be a picture-perfect night, weather-wise.
The highlight of the evening will be 100 laps for the Sunshine State Challenge Series Super Late Models fueled by Sunoco. Also on the card will be the Legend Cars, V-8 Bombers, Mini Stocks, Scramblers and the Mini Cup cars.
A great field of Super Late Models are expected led by Jesse Dutilly of Bradenton who won the season-opener here for the SSCS Super Lates, the Diamond 100, on January 8th. Dutilly also has another SSCS win to go with his earlier victory at Auburndale and currently sits atop the point standings. Michael Atwell of Naples is second in points, 11 markers behind Dutilly, but the young driver will be a favorite coming off a recent victory at 4-17 Southern Speedway.
Nick Neri of Palmetto is currently third in points followed by the father-son duo of Billy Bigley, Jr. and Dylan Bigley who hail from Naples. Others expected to challenge the top quintet of drivers in the points include Anthony Sergi of Oviedo, Auburndale drivers Jon Guy and Chris Fontaine, Devin McLeod of Zephyrhills, Lakeland's Matt McCrary, Joe Boyd of Riverview, Ft. Pierce driver David Green and Michael Goddard of Oviedo who will be making his Super Late Model debut after a nice run in the Pro Trucks.
Pit gates open Saturday morning at 11 am with practice for Super Late Models only from noon to 2 pm. Practice by rotation for all other classes is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and continue until 4:30 pm. A final Super Late Model practice will take place from 5-5:30 pm. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with qualifying for the Legend Cars and V-8 Bombers at 5:45 pm.
Racing begins at 7 pm with a 20 lap contest for the Mini Cup cars followed by qualifying for the SSCS Super Late Models. A 25-lap feature will be up next for the Mini Stocks followed by 25 laps for the Scramblers. During intermission fans will be able to come on the track to meet and greet the drivers plus get autographs and photo opportunities.
After intermission the SSCS Super Late Models take to the track for 100 laps of action. Once that big race concludes fans will still have much more to see as the V-8 Bombers go for 30 big laps before the Legend Cars wrap up the night of racing with a 25-lap contest.
Adult admission is $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are just $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
Thanks to Sunoco Race Fuels and Southern Racing Fuels, the new scoreboard is now up and running! It is amazingly bright, even in the daylight and should be an awesome sight at night.
The 2017 racing schedule has been updated as Auburndale Speedway has added one more Super Late Model 100, another Open Wheel Modified 50/Street Stock 50, two Mod Mini 50s and two Pro Truck 50/Sportsman 50s to the schedule. You can view the complete schedule by going to www.auburndalespeedway.net.
