I am pleased to say that I have taken in some excellent racing so far. The World of Outlaw sprints at Volusia, and the enormous crowd, were dazzling on Friday night, but I was so disappointed to hear about the accident and injuries on Sunday. Has this affected their schedule, or are they still rocking along?
Monday night at New Smyrna was excellent! The tour mod 50 lapper (with 24 starters) was a thing of beauty: competitive, stressful, aggressive ....everything you want in a good race. What a relief to see such an improvement in the car count for this fascinating division!
I ran a friend's sprinter on Sunday, (and had problems all night), so I didn't watch the K&N race. However, the stands were packed. Monday night also had 4X the crowd that had been there in recent years. It was a very healthy sized group of fans, and I hope it continues.
I made one visit to East Bay, and hope to get to Bubba's this week to see the USAC wingless sprints, but I don't know how I will find time. I am taking a sprinter to 4-17 on Saturday night with the Southern Sprint Cars. It will be our first time there in 4 years!
Race on y'all.
