  • Dirt Car Winternationals

Remember all the fond memories of speedweeks years ago? Lots of cars, electric atmosphere, plenty of friends old and new? These are still the good old days at Volusia. We went on Friday night for the World of Outlaws sprints and UMP modifieds, and completely enjoyed ourselves.

The place was packed (at $38 each), but we took advantage of the free pit-pass upgrade and found excellent seats in between turns 1 and 2. Despite the huge crowd, there were enough food vendors to keep the lines short, so our group made plenty of trips and spent lots of $$$$.

The track crew had 2 or 3 brief sessions with the packing trucks, and their intent was to widen out the groove. They nailed it! By feature time, most of the sprints were sideways, inches from the wall, and still running how fast? 135+? What a cool show!

Hoping this kind of success for all our local tracks. I am heading to NSS today with the Southern Sprints, but am in a different car for the next two races. It is the #22X.
