V-8 BOMBERS TAKE CENTER STAGE SUNDAY AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY
Although it's expected to be rather chilly, Auburndale Speedway will be back in action this Sunday afternoon after being rained out the previous week with the V-8 Bombers taking to the track for a 40-lap feature paying $500 to win. Also on the card will be the Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini Cup cars along with a special 10-lap "Mystery Race."
Leading the large contingent of V-8 Bomber drivers will be 2016 track champion James Wright III who also won the season-opening SSCS race for the class here on January 8th and Carl Thompson, Jr. who won the SSCS race for the V-8 Bombers at 417 Southern Speedway last Saturday night. Aaron Holmes ran second to Thompson at 417 last week but it's not yet known if he'll wheel the car this week or if son Brey Holmes will take over after an impressive debut here two weeks ago. Other drivers expected include George Gorham, Jr., David Purvis, Randy Spicer, Josh Todd, Brandon Duchscherer, Ricky Norman, Bubba Healey, Mike Bruno and several more.
During intermission, all drivers in all classes will have their cars on the track for "We Support Our Drivers." Fans can come out on the track where will there be photo opportunities along with a chance to meet the drivers and get their autographs.
Also, along with the other racing, Tech Director Ricky Brooks has added a special 10-lap "Mystery Race" at the end of the race program. Brooks is not telling anybody what it's all about, so we'll have to wait and see.
Not only will the winner of the V-8 Bomber feature win $500, but one lucky fan will win a $500 mystery prize pack that will include cash, event tickets, food and beverage, merchandise and more.
Pit gates open Sunday morning at 10 am with practice by rotation for all classes from 10:45 am - 12:45 pm. Grandstand gates open at noon with qualifying for the V-8 Bombers at 1:30 pm.
Racing begins at 2 pm with 8-lap heat races for the Mini Cups, Mini Stocks and Scramblers. Feature racing follows with a 20-lap run for the Mini Cup cars, 25 laps for the Mini Stocks and 20 laps for the Scramblers.
Intermission follows with the "We Support Our Drivers" chance for fans to get up close and personal with their favorites. The big 40-lap contest for the V-8 Bombers follows intermission, then day wraps up with the 10-lap "Mystery Race."
