Last season, Citrus was by far the car count leader, and for that matter the spectator leader. I don't see that changing for 2017. I think the " West Coast " racers and fans will have plenty of good race events from both Citrus and Showtime this season. And the various classes of cars and the trucks will continue to build at both tracks.Renegade Racing Fuels of Florida/Palmdale Oil Company

No!!
Citrus is isolating themselves with their better than though rule book. The rules are significantly different. From what I read Citrus will only be running the 750 grooved tire while every other track is on a type of slick.
Citrus has only 6 races planned for modified's this year! 6
Showtime is the only track that is running a full season of modified's...every two weeks with a few breaks.Doug Miller # 53

Citrus Rules
Citrus decided that a steering quickner is now illegal.
They are not allowing Ford lowers.
They say you cannot cut out the stock lower control arms to install screw in type.
They are putting a left side and a front weight penalty on fab clips which I kinda like.
And they went to grooves so they don't have to buy 8" slicks for one class.
You would think that Citrus would look back a year or two and see how big the modified class really is.
I hope hes not just gonna rely on the guys who live up there and Citrus turns into a 6 car pony show with a champion crowned with only a 6 race season..........lolDoug Miller # 53

Different tires are always a problem. But since the tracks have often run their own official tires, the racers are used to buying more than one brand or type of tire to race at multiple tracks.
I don't anticipate a 6 car, 6 race championship. I would think that Citrus, Showtime, and maybe even Bronson could get together on rules and scheduling. But if it were to turn out that Citrus goes it's own way, the guys who raced only at Citrus would be way ahead at the end of the season. Very little travel expense, cars not torn up, and a good weekly payout plus a very good championship payout. And i'm sure it would be a quality field of cars.
And if i know Citrus, the fans will have plenty to watch every Saturday night. So a smaller than usual class of OWMs wouldn't keep the fans away. But let's hope the OWM class at Citrus is as big or bigger than last season.Last edited by Renegade Racing Fuels; 01-11-2017, 01:33 PM.Renegade Racing Fuels of Florida/Palmdale Oil Company

Yes, i believe you mentioned 6 races for the season. I don't know of anything preventing them from adding more OWM races for 2017, so maybe we'll see more than 6 races. Or maybe we won't. The OWMs are one of my favorite classes, so i hope we do.Originally posted by openwm53 View PostI love your optimism......Did I say 6 races scheduled for the entire season ?
But it sure looks like they have a big season planned for the other classes, some figure 8 shows, and i see some some Super Late races scheduled. And i wouldn't be surprised to see some more Monster Truck shows as well.Renegade Racing Fuels of Florida/Palmdale Oil Company
