I'm going to be there at least 1 night, trying for both. It'll be fantastic to see racing there again.
Judging by the increase in racing fuel sales down there over the past 2 weeks, i think there's going to be a very good turnout of cars. And since the fans down there have always been loyal, turnout in the stands should be big too.

What I wonder is if enough people even know they open back up tonight. I have seen nothing posted about it here on the board and haven't heard any radio spots or TV advertising. I caught a very brief story on the fort myers CBS local news last night or I wouldn't have known it.There is good fan support there but a lot of those fans just got back down here from up north not long ago.The crowd will tell the tale tonight and tomorrow but me personally I think it has been under publicized.

All tracks should pay very close attention to how the Ray family promotes Citrus County. Even people in other states are made aware of the track and upcoming events. On opening night at Citrus, i met a family from the Netherlands that was vacationing in Florida, had heard about the track opening, and came out to see what it was all about. That's what promoting can do.

The Tracks think Facebook is the End All promotions. WRONG!!!! The only people who see FB is the Fans that already know. Makes NO CENTS (or DOLLARS)!!!
They need LIVE displays, Radio and TV people involved, Schools, Churches, Vets Clubs, Motorcycle Groups, etc.... WE HAD 48 LATE MODELS, 4500 plus... FANS IN THE STANDS FIRST WEEKEND 2007. Don N and Teddy K. taught me everything I know about Stock Car Promoting.... Good luck 417 (it's one of my best memories in Motorsports and just please rethink the FB as the End All only for marketing!!!! KARNAC is another media they (all the track) are missing $$$$ at the front. Just my 2 cents!!!!

The saving grace may turn out to be the fact that there is a very strong fan base in this area especially this time of year with all the people down from up north. But how many know they are having a soft opening on a Friday night and starting at 6 pm at that? I will let you know in a few hours when I get there. I noticed they plan to revive the old cowboy Cadillac class. They should have done that with mini trucks imo .There are tons of them in the junkyards and no track races anything with s-10 ranger, tundra,Dakota bodies etc. down here.It would be different.

Friday night races always seem to pose a problem for spectators and racers alike. But as i mentioned, the Palmdale Oil Company location in Ft. Myers said the race fuel sales had increased by a lot over the past several weeks to racers planning to run opening night. And hopefully the fans will show up, maybe not at 6, but shortly after.
