  • anybody remember

The big enduro at Volusia with Luxury cars. Anybody remembers that. If my memory is right, NDRA ace driver, Larry Moore, won it.

    What was the winner purse?

    Total purse?

    What was the entry fee?

    What year was it exactly?

    How many cars registered?

    Thanks for your help.

    close, but not it---

in january, 1986-87--on a sunday afternoon at Orlando
Speedworld,/asphalt was/were endurance races for 100 laps, for full sized luxury cars. Larry Moyer, not Larry Moore, won those races--with a hefty $10,000.oo to win. I think this is what you're referring to, I think. I don't remember anything about Volusia County Speedway/dirt endure races, maybe the World 100 races, but those were for street stocks.

Larry was Teamed up with his life time Friend....

Larry was Teamed up with his life time Friend Dave Pletcher. They bought two Lincoln Mark 7s' new off the Dealer and raced them finish 1st and 2nd (some said they were CRAZY). Now THOSE were the DAYS!!!!!

        I was there

I went with pletch and moyer, helped work on the cars and I think I ended up scoring for one of them. Hard to believe it was 30 years ago. Sure had a lot of fun, but when don't you have fun going racing with pletcher, LoL.

I was a 200 lap race. The purse was $100,000 to win with a $1,000 entry.
cars had to be new not over 5 years old.
Larry Moyer won the race and the purse for the winner was adjusted to the car count and Larry got $ 19.000 apx..
the promoter was Balls prmotions out of Mich.
The same people that made the first tire soak.
I did flag that race. No one else would do it. The big race was on in Daytona and I put a TV in the flagstand and did updates on a remote mike to the handful of fan.
Larry Moore was there also and lead most of the race.
            The others I rember were
            Nightstalker
            Big Mike M5
            Pletcher
They only had about 20 cars.

Not enough cars and not too many fans. Too bad; it was such an odd idea. I love to see different approaches work.
