I once made it my mission to attack the assholes that were bashing OSW on here. It was fun and I accomplished my intent.
Here's the problem with social media and the racetracks. The negative comments damaging track reputations far outweigh the benefits of posting results.
And zip it Old School, before you chime in with some vintage form of babbling. LOL ! Miss me ?
most of the bashing is and was the truth fact! I was in the pits at osw one time when a racer thought he wasn't treated unfairly in a race. he said he wasn't coming back .and went on to say that the end of osw wasn't far away if they kept showing what he thought was favoritism to some drivers. the people in charge at the time laughed and said good luck where ever you go to race. wasn't long after that the decline of cars and fans started . all I can say is LOOK AT ORLANDO SPEED WORLD now . that guy was so right that it's not even funny .

You mean, like, trying to stifle free speech?
I would suggest that being positive and supporting the Speedways is more effective than bashing the bashers.
Bystanders may not be able to tell who is who...
So, congratulations to New Smyrna Speedway on another event that attracted lots of entries, and to Kyle Purvis, who came from Ohio to win the modified event last weekend.Last edited by OldSchool+; 11-19-2016, 07:53 AM.

Anyone ever think to complain to the non racing media who at one time put results in their newspapers? if you don't get a newspaper which means if they did you would not see it and they don't care either. Now this may not make sense to most of you that complain but at one time local stock car racing was very big and newspapers thought it was an important sport to include in the sports section.

That is true... but, it's been a long time since the mainstream newspapers (at least in larger markets) gave a crap about much of anything local unless it is, of course, their local NFL, NBA, NHL or college team... I remember not all that long ago that the local Orlando paper did mention racing at the local tracks and covered local bowling leagues, local AAU sports, even Jai-Alai. I remember when the Orlando Sentinel would have a two-page spread following the 12 Hours of Sebring... now it barely rates a paragraph if anything at all... Overall the local paper has shrunk in size (literally) and has fewer pages for more money... Subscriptions have gone down significantly due to the on-line availability of instant news, sports and entertainment and the lesser quality product...
Check this out from the Orlando Evening Star - This story was in the paper on a Wednesday in April 1963... If you are a long-time fan of racing in Central Florida, some of these names should bring back a few memories...

Thx for the newspaper article.
Although I do not remember that one, I used to read them even if we did go to the races, which was most Friday nights.
In my opinion, the opinion of the newspapers was that circle track racing was more politically mainstream in those days, and even then, it received far less coverage that other sports.
Now? It could change, but I will be surprised if it does.Last edited by OldSchool+; 11-20-2016, 08:09 AM.
