ADMO MODIFIEDS AND TRICK OR TREAT HIGHLIGHT BIG HALLOWEEN NIGHT AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY
Auburndale Speedway will be the place to be for both young and old this Saturday night as the ADMO Modified Series wraps up its 2016 season with a big 50-lap event on Harvest Meat Markets night.
Pit gates will open at 2 pm with practice slated from 4-6 pm. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm and the first 200 adults through the gate will receive a $5 Harvest Meat Markets gift certificate. Harvest Meat Markets serve the Polk County area with locations in Lake Alfred, Kathleen, Combee, Highland City and Auburndale. The V-8 Bombers will qualify at 6:30 with racing to follow at 7 pm.
Up first will be the "Stalk 35" for the Mini Stocks followed by the "Boo 40" for the V-8 Bombers. Up next it's the "Howler 25" for the Scramblers, then the "Witches 25" for the Legend Cars. The ADMO Modifieds then take to the track for their qualifying just before intermission.
During intermission all kids 12 and under will be able to go from race car to race car on the track to do "Trick or Treat with the Drivers." Also during intermission will be the Kids Halloween Costume Contest. The youngsters will be divided into two age groups, 7 & under and 8-12, and there are some really great prizes for the best costume and the runner-up. First place in each age group will get two children's reserved section admission tickets to the "Night of Destruction" on November 12th, a $40 value. The runners-up will get two children's general admission tickets to the same event, a value of $20.
The evening culminates with 50 laps of ADMO open-wheel Modified racing featuring top drivers from all over Central Florida.
Adult admission is $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are just $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions.
Final points for the 2016 season are now posted for Auburndale Speedway's six regular weekly divisions. In the Scramblers, a disqualification on the final night allowed Nicole Green of Lakeland to become 2016 champion as she topped William Kerns by 25 points. Dustin Wilson finished the points year with three straight wins, good for third in points. While a technical issue on the final night kept him from securing the 2016 title, nice guy Kyle Little still came home fourth in the final tally.
Other 2016 champions were:
Mini Stocks - Chris Narramore, Sr. dominated the season, only losing twice during the year in feature racing. Narramore finished an astounding 152 points ahead of second place Bruce Cozad while Cozad was 40 points up on third place Danny Leet.
Legends - Seth Adams squeaked out an eight point advantage over Alan Hiefnar to claim the title thanks, in part, to a late season surge. Devin McLeod and Dave Gleason were third and fourth.
Mod Minis - Chris Spring gained yet another championship scoring several victories along the way. Consistent Kristin Clements finished her first season in the class in second place, 79 markers behind Spring while Spring's chief "rival," Keith Roggen, came on late in the year to nab third in points.
V-8 Bombers - James Wright III made a late-season charge that netted him yet another Auburndale Speedway track title. Wright topped Carl Thompson, Jr. by 47 points in the final tally while Aaron Holmes, who led the way much of the year, settled for third in points.
Mini Cups - Russell Bush had plenty of competition but was consistent all year and ran away with the title by 113 points over Clay Samuels. Brey Holmes and Douglas Herrin, Jr. were third and fourth.
