  • Citrus County Speedway Eddie Brann Memorial Night Race Results - 10/15/16

It was quite a night of racing competition at the new Citrus County Speedway on Eddie Brann Memorial Race Night.

Another great crowd was on hand. The excitement level for all divisions in competition was at it's usual feverish pitch with unbelievable three wide and sometimes four wide jockeying for postions that had fans at the edge of their seats. Seldom is their a dull moment at CCS.

A total of twenty five of some of the very best Open Wheel Modified drivers in the state of Florida signed into the pits to vie for the honor to enter the record books as a winner of this highly prestigious annual race held in memory of a great modified car builder who was beloved by all racers The winner's check in the amount of $3,000, lap money and contingency awards is not bad either. One competitor loaded up before qualifying due to an issue with shocks, but found a ride for the night in a different class car.

It was post race inspection that decided the official race finish for the 8th Annual Eddie Brann Memorial Race as many of the competitors apparently didn't read the Open Wheel Modified rule book closely to make sure their cars were legal and got disqualified. Citrus County Speedway, under the management of the Ray family, has taken a strong stance on compliance with rules and it should have been so noted by all beforehand.

Things that make u go hum?

600 bucks times 15, seems like someone made an extra 9 grand. Start money was 600 bucks, I would assume if u got dq'ed you do not get start money. I herd a lot of them were thrown out for window opening size, and Body rules, which to me are pre-race items. I.e. Add 25 pounds because your body is not right before race. Something real strange is going on there.

Wayne was involved in an accident on lap 6. Went to the pits for repairs, returned to the track and the car was totally uncompetitive so he called it a night going back to the pits.

Alum parts in the suspension, window opening to small, body in front of rear of block on right side and ford lowers. They warned everyone it was not going to be easy in tech. The other tracks have not done there job and everyone was pushing the rules

It will make racing at Citrus better for everyone that follows the rules

I do not agree with steering quickeners made of aluminum being a reason for DQ There is not one that I am aware of that is not aluminum plus it has no affect on the suspenion.

I hope the DQ money went to the Brann family

I do agree the Modifies are out of control with the rules not being enforced. From what was first started as a working mans class, that had a $500 claimer rule on the motor with a stock clip to some guys having 25k in their motor alone. It's a class that needs reeled in for sure. I just hope the Ray family at least notified all active modified owners and drivers, and gave them a heads up. That the rules will be enforced at this race. So they had time to make the nessary changes to their car before they towed up there, went to pre tech, then let them qualify and allow them to race. Burn up hundreds of dollars in tires, fuel and pit passes not to mention the wear and tear on their race car. That's just wrong by the Ray family in my opinion! They have had such a good start to rebirthing this track and my fear is that they just ran off almost an entire class.

Sounds like rule enforcement and people are saying they won't race there? makes no sense.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

                            modifieds

9 that was legal will be back for sure . some will make cars legal. now those cars have a chance to be compete . then there those who are going to cry and try to change rules to their favor. glad to see a track going by the book. too many favor their good ol boys & girls thanks for results

The number 7 won the week before without issue.
