For those who say tracks don't send anything out to promote their shows... I do!
DARTS TRUCKS HEADLINE AUBURNDALE RACE PROGRAM SATURDAY NIGHT ON HARVEST MEAT MARKETS NIGHT
It will be race number six for the Desoto-Auburndale Race Truck series (DARTS) this Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway as the Truck racers will go for 50 laps and be joined by the Legend Cars, V-8 Bombers, Mod Minis, Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini-Cup cars. It's Harvest Meat Markets night at the speedway and $1,000 in Harvest Meat Markets gift certificates will be given away. Harvest Meat Markets serve the Polk County area with locations in Lake Alfred, Kathleen, Combee, Highland City and Auburndale.
Becca Monopoli of Lakeland, who won the season-opening race at DeSoto Speedway has used consistency to place herself atop the DARTS point standings. Monopoli, who won a Pro Truck event at Showtime Speedway last Saturday night, has a commanding 29 point edge over second place Derek Pugh of Crystal River. Arcadia's Cody Martell won the race held at Auburndale last month and is currently third in the standings some 14 markers behind Pugh. Jason Lester of Palmetto is fourth in points, only a point behind Martell while Big Donnie Burkhalter of Ocoee is fifth in the standings just two points behind Lester. Burkhalter is coming off a big weekend last month where he finished second to Martell on Saturday night here, then went to Orlando SpeedWorld and won the big race there the following Sunday afternoon.
Rounding out the current top ten in points are Bradenton's Danny Anderson, Cody McDuffie of Lakeland, Lehigh's Michael Kohut, Billy Carlbert, Jr. of Palmetto and Naples driver Michael Goddard.
All of the top ten in points are expected to be in action along with a host of others including Cody Carlbert of Zephyrhills, Tommy Kelley of Myakka City, Kristin Clements of Lakeland, Racin' Mason Love of Pinellas Park, Lakeland's Dakota Hunt, Travis Roland of Auburndale, Tyler Davis of Lakeland, Mike Gamache of Tarpon Springs and Lakeland driver Chase Lovelady.
Only two point races among the regular weekly racing divisions are still up for grabs as the season draws to a close. The championship race for the V-8 Bomber class has seen James Wright III close to within five points of leader Aaron Holmes and Wright is currently on a big win streak. In the Scrambler class Nicole Green has closed in on point leader Kyle Little and sits just eight points back going int this week's action.
Things have pretty much been decided in the other classes as Chris Narramore, Sr. has a big 89 point edge over Bruce Cozad in the Mini Stocks, Chris Spring is up by 67 markers over Kristin Clements in the Mod Minis and Seth Adams has a 58 point advantage over Alan Hiefnar in the Legend Cars. Russell Bush has a 58 point edge over Clayton Samuels in the Mini Cup division.
Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 2 pm with practice starting at 3:45 pm. Grandstand gates open officially at 5 pm with DARTS qualifying at 6:30 pm and the races get under way at 7 pm with heat races and features for all of the regular Auburndale classes. There will be an autograph/photo op session with the DARTS drivers during intermission just prior to their 50-lap event.
Adult admission is $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are just $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions.
OTHER NOTES:
A very special thank you to Stepp's Towing Service. Without them there would not have been a highly successful Monster Truck show last weekend that played to a packed house! Stepp's provided all the cars and vans that were crushed, delivered them and picked them back up as well. They also provided the flatbed that Gunslinger rode on to the speedway accompanied by a police escort!
The 7th Annual "Making a Difference" Bowl-A-Raiser had 85 bowlers in support of the C.A.R.S. charity. Congratulations go out to Auburndale Speedway Safety Director Matt Nichols and his team who finished first. But the real winners were the C.A.R.S. children and families. After expenses, the event raised over $4,000 that will be added to the total collected during the 11th Annual Joey Coulter Charity 200 Race Weekend December 9-11.
