If the rest of the Tracks(Dirt and Asphalt)don't start working together there will be more closures!!! If you go to your local Track you have seen first hand the decrease of Race Cars, Fans, Bill Boards, advertisements...... I got a BAD feeling this closure won't be the last. Hope I am wrong but!!!! Wants your thoughts???

Painful news.
I had sat in the stands for many of their races this year, and always thought they put on a well-run and entertaining show. Sure, some of the competitors were grumbling, nothing new there, but I didn't expect this set back.
No track ever closed because they were making TOO MUCH money, but I wonder what else was afoot that led to this.
Hendry County recently cancelled the rest of their season, and I can see that Putnam is on life support. Don't we always hear how much healthier dirt racing is compared to pavement?
I love the place and hope for better news.....soon!

I was surprised to hear that about Volusia
Even though I haven't ever made it to the place yet.Hendry County I have been to a number of times and honestly wondered how they were keeping the place open. From what I saw this past Saturday you might just add Showtime to that list of how are they keeping the gates open? It appears Yoho is struggling. How much of that goes hand in hand with the road construction next to that place is a good question but things didn't look so good there Saturday. The crowd was very light,if you took the mini stock and strictly stock cars out of the pits the car count was pitiful, the restrooms were shut down because of water issues and Yoho started off the evening chastising the crowd about bottles being snuck into the track much like a middle school principal on a tirade against the student body at a school assembly, he also announced they had been having issues with bees that hadnt yet been rectified, and now they have canceled this Saturday because of drainage issues.Maybe it's much ado about nothing but it gives the outward appearance of a track that's struggling. And with Citrus County going full bore you just can't help but feel that way.sigpic

I had noticed the car counts had dropped off considerably the past few weeks... They were kicking butt before then especially with the Late Models and Thunder Stocks... Be interesting to get some driver/team opinions on what happened...
