NSS has stood the test of time. How many of these great other tracks have been on top only to close after a short time. I cant think of any of them that haven't been closed at some time in my racing years.
NSS has been open every season offering the racer and the fan a place to go.
It has had some good times and some bad but it is there and will be there when the rest come and go.
It his the #1 track in the south east for topnotch short track racing.
They are down on cars now but that wont last forever.
Just keeping shooting at RLH and when you run out of rocks he will bring out the big bang.
    Just love this sport..

Low car counts, zero advertising, zero news coverage. It's very difficult to be a fan of racing and attend a race at NSS given that I never know about it or hear about what happens

We are not all throwing rocks, many readers on here are encouraging the track. Yes, it is an excellent facility, and yes the racing can be outstanding there.

For the last few years, it seems to be on autopilot. The track has proven it can attract sponsors, so how about working on car count too? That is why I go on Saturdays.

There is no shortage of topics that need attention at NSS from involved people who know racing and entertainment. I don't want to list the topics and look like a rock thrower. We all know that some things are working there, and others are not. Somebody jump on that horse...and use the spurs!

Love this track but the payouts drop to fast, how can you go from the Westcoast over to NSS and get 200.00 for 5th place in a mod. That is what the that is the problem. The tracks on the Westcoast have good payouts through the field.

I've known Robert for a long time, in fact i was the race fuel supplier there. I don't think i've missed a Governors Cup, Clyde Hart Memorial, or Speedweeks there in the last 15 years. I consider NSS as my home track since live just down the road.
I'm not really certain why the fan and racer count has dropped off so badly there. There are plenty of theories floating around about why, and how to fix it.
I know one thing for sure, any track that's looking to grow needs to take a couple of the ideas from Showtime, and EVERY idea from Citrus. Both started out with pretty much nothing and have become the 2 hottest oval tracks in the state. And i'm including 5 Flags in that. They have a couple of great shows every year, but their weekly shows don't compare. And i think it really comes down to marketing, marketing, and marketing.
I think we're going to see the 4-17 Southern Speedway take off just the same way. They have some very good ideas for marketing.

Been going there for years and the topic in the grandstands from those sitting to the left and right of you always is they cant believe the low car counts. What amazes me is there always seems to be a decent crowd regardless, and I think that is simply a reflection on how nice the facility itself is.
The place is oozing with potential, but as I have said many times before that they only seem to care about the big shows.

5 Flags runs twice a month. It makes sense for the big half miles due to the wear and tear on the engine, and I guess tires might wear out quicker as well. Twice a month might help nss?

NSS needs 1- Pits redone long over due. 2- Bathrooms redone long over due. $15.00 for a soggy burger & fries and a cup ice doesn't cut it. A really modern tech area would also help.

The Sportsman cars typically have a good field and a good race, although, y'know, some nights are always better than others in racing. I'll be there and gladly pay my admission.

ps--Tell 'em you want your burger really, really well done. They are pretty good actually.

Speaking of October 1st, 4-17 Southern Speedway ( formerly Charlotte County Speedway ) is having the Leroy Davidson Memorial that afternoon. It would be a good time to check out the progress they've made with the track, but more importantly, remembering one of the pioneers of oval track racing in Florida.

I can agree that the bathrooms and food definitely have a lot of room for improvement, but that doesn't keep me away. I just make sure to pop plenty of immodium so I don't have to use them

For me it is the car counts, advertising, and just being aware of what's going on there. I'm a lot more motivated to go when I'm constantly hearing about the great racing and drivers there.

Plus I need to know when the events are, maybe on TV/radio/word of mouth. None of that currently reaches me

No, i think i'm the only one to post about the Leroy Davidson Memorial on KARNAC. But now it's out there.
In case you missed my post a while back, facebook isn't a big deal. In fact, it's yesterday's news for most young people and for the technology savvy. The world has moved on to instagram and snapchat. But you don't don't have to be a facebook member to read facebook sites. Just type into search whatever site you're looking for. For instance, type in citrus county speedway and track facebook, or 4-17 southern speedway facebook, and you'll go right to their facebook page. Facebook will try to block you from reading the page because facebook just can't help themselves, but simply click on not now and continue reading.
I agree that Florida tracks should be using every possible marketing opportunity, but every site is available if you just look for it.
