Eleven street stocks and ten mini stocks have completed their feature races as well as the twenty three car pure stock feature. The stand's truly are packed and I have noticed several showtime speedway regulars so far as well as a few Bronson regulars. Thank you god the sun is starting to set. One note no brake Jake Perkins is back on blacktop in tonight's super latemodel field.sigpic

They did have people selling drinks through the front stretch stands. They were having some issues with the p.a. system so I never caught the name of the guy who won the modified feature. Dean Butrum took the truck feature. They need a speaker in turn four. The front stretch speakers are loud but not enough to hear a lot of what's being said. It mainly just sounds distorted down there. They have come a long way with the place BUT, I see a problem ahead. It's a nice problem to have but a problem just the same. I got there about five o clock. I had to park out by 41.There were cars circling the parking lot when I got there trying to find a spot to park.Likewise people were having a tough time finding a seat to park their butts in up in the stands. This is August. What happens when the snowbirds come back?Where are they going to put everybody. SOLUTION!! Two nights of racing a week. They may have to.sigpic

Robbie Cooper won the modifieds
Citrus does have it going on. A DJ for the stands, free beer giveaways, free popcorn for the kids and a beer garden. Overflowing crowds is a problem not experienced by many in Florida. They've figured it out, lower the admission prices and then make it up on concessions. Well played. Of course I'm still trying to rehydrate after being in those stands all afternoon.

With all the over flow coming with the Snow Birds!!! Racing on (that whole area is winter trailerville of Florida, one place has over 400 homes with only 39 year long families not 10 miles from the track ) Friday / Saturday racing would give all the tracks a least a shot at the Racers for car count. It takes money to make money!!! The Ray family is paying more than anyone and seems to be proving the quote true (only time will tell)!!! So glad I don't have a Track. Great post ZEROFOR for the nights coverage!!! Next week Desoto (Sprint Cars) or Showtime (Late Model and Trucks) for the Old Farts Traveling Fan Group!! Only thing that can stop us is RAIN!!!! I HATE HURRICANE Season!!!! Rain all week could dampen our plans (weepers)????

Since opening night at the NEW Citrus County Speedway, there have been a couple of unusual problems at the track. Unusual in that no other track in Florida, possibly even the Southeast, has to strongly consider adding more grandstands and more spectator parking.
The Ray family, and all of the crew at Citrus are putting on consistently good racing events. And the racers and fans are responding. I was in the long line at the pit side concession, and i realized that their concession trailer is the same as most everyone else's. The difference is that there are far more people in the pit area at Citrus.
Congrats to Wayne Anderson on a dominate performance, congrats to Robbie Cooper on a great outside pass to take the win from Josh Todd, congrats to Dean Buttram on a win in the trucks, and congrats to the Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Mini Stocks for putting on some great racing.Renegade Racing Fuels of Florida/Palmdale Oil Company

Someone needs to take advantage of massive crowds coupled with the impending return of people from up north. Strike the iron while its hot baby.Right now I think Inverness would support an extra night of racing a week.Once the snowbirds return maybe even take a stab at a midweek show. The biggest problems I see there is having enough help available to pull it together in the midweek and how that would play out with city government, the fair board etc.But hey if you have they're blessings why not give it a go while your packing them in. If it doesn't make you any money try something different.sigpic

I had a Killer Philly Cheese Steak in the pits. Looked like an 8 inch loaded 7$. I will get one every night I go racing!Last edited by kaseykahne; 08-28-2016, 03:35 PM.
