      I talked with Pam S.

I talked with Pam S. Said she read that a driver ran a stop or red light hit LeRoy driving into head on traffic. He passed away at the Hospital. We will all miss the color and flair he brought to our Sport.

This is the e-mail I got this morning from Ronnie Bacelo... Needless to say this comes as a huge shock to those of us that dealt with him over the years...

It’s with a pained heart and at a loss for words that we have lost another one of the good guys. LeRoy Davidson was not only a great family man but an excellent husband to his wife Connie Tucker Davidson.
LeRoy built Charlotte County Speedway with all his heart in the early 90’s it was and will always be his baby. There will not be a moment that goes by for anybody that attends a race at the new 4-17 Southern Speedway (formerly Charlotte Co. Speedway) that will not remember LeRoy and the love he had for our sport. LeRoy was one of Florida’s best promoters anybody had ever met.
Unfortunately, we lost LeRoy today at age 69 in a car accident in Ft. White, Fl. his memories will live on as he would want us to celebrate his life rather than mourn his loss. Please say a prayer for his family, they will endure their pain for a long time.
On behalf of Desoto Speedway and all it’s employees we send our deepest condolences to the Davidson family during these tough times. May God wrap his arms around the family and comfort them while they endure this tragedy.
        GOD SPEED.
        RIP LeRoy

I got to know LeRoy when we headed down to CCS with the Classic Car Series and he treated us so very good... He was a no-nonsense type of guy which is probably why he was so successful... I can only imagine how tough it was to run that track dealing with all the drivers and their varied personalities along with having to deal with the Airport Authority... Then, of course, came Hurricane Charley... I had the pleasure of announcing several Florida Pro LM shows there and always enjoyed LeRoy and Bert Ashelman "arguing" although it was mostly in fun... RIP...

I met Leroy almost 2 years ago when he took the management job at Bronson Speedway. That job was short lived as most of us know, but he bought a place and settled up here anyway. Very good guy as well as his family. R I P my friend...

That's very sad news. I first met LeRoy during his days at Charlotte County Speedway, and he was a true race track promoter. And he was still at it, doing his best several years ago to get Bronson up and running.
