From the Grand Stands ("The Old Farts Touring Fan Group")!!! Desoto's Fall Brawl was AWESOME!!!!
This not an OFFICIAL report on the race. Just a view from the stands.
It was a strong field of Sportsman going for the Challenge. A race with 200 laps and NO TIRES at the 100 lap break leads to a very interesting race.
The first caution made and the front runners had to make a choice inside or out (the cone rule is used at Desoto). The #1 of Steve Darvalics was in 5th (i believe) and choose the top (first to do so). He gave the field a lesson on restarts!!! Sean Bass layed back in the 3rd or 4th place for most of the race. Jason Vail ran second to the #1 for most of the race. Every restart was a swing and miss for him trying to grab the lead. The #1 Darvalics was coming up on lapped traffic when Vail got by on a pick. But Bass then in third got by both. Then another yellow. At this point everyone if they could do it over may not of used up their tires and car. Sean took control with about 25 laps to go (not sure on which lap) and drove away from the field. Getting through traffic is one of the true talents of a race driver. Bass proved his experience!!! Lapping the field at a fierce rate till coming up to the 10th place car #25 and as we all know if you have ever been behind the wheel "DO NOT go a lap DOWN!!!! Well Sean choose a lane and #25 block (I think totally catching Sean out) and collected the leader. Desoto has a Tape Out Rule (if one of the drivers involved taps in roof he takes blame and the other driver get his spot back) the crowd went NUTS!!!! When the #25 didn't putting both back to the last on the lead lap. Sean's motor had a little orange coming from the exhaust coming out of turn 2 for the last 10 laps prior to the yellow (the traffic let him get away by a straight away on Vail and the rest of the pack). The restart saw the #407 of Vail take all the prior restarts that #1 Darvalics show chased. And he took over the race to a GREAT WIN!!!! With Sean motor (maybe even a burnt spark plug wire) kept him from mounting a charge.

Great race well worth the money spent!!! Here is the Facebook post from Desoto page:
(UNOFFICIAL) WINNER of the Fall Brawl Powered by JEGS.COM #407 Jason Vail, 2nd #23 Mike Smith, 3rd #24 Bruce Bennett, 4th #1 Steve Darvalics and 5th #29 Bobby Mobley.

Can't wait for the Official results of all the races. We are trying to decide were to go next weekend. So from "The Old Farts Touring Fan Group" please support your local track before they are gone!!!!

Bobby,it indeed was quite a race and rivaled anything the super latemodels have brought to the track this year.I would like to see the official finishing order,it looked from the fourth turn stands that Mobley grabbed fourth from Darvolics but those two late race restarts definitely had the two battling for it. I think a little patience would have benefited Sean Bass he had no immediate pressure from behind and he could have held his attempt to lap the #25 off long enough to not do it in the middle of turn four. But it definitely worked out well for Vail.

How was the crowd in the stands? I hope the track was rewarded with a great turn-out for taking the risk on a different type of show. A 200 lapper for a competitive and healthy class like Sportsmen is a fine idea.

Not bad.Not packed by any means but no worse than I've seen there for any super latemodel show this year.More importantly to some degree was although the entire race card didn't finish up until around midnight most of the crowd stuck around to the end even though when the sportsman race wrapped up there was still both the street stock and pro truck race yet to run.
