I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings, and it's great that you have the backpack giveaway for the kids, but that has to be the most lame fan appreciation night in the history of motorsports. Regular admission prices and reduced prices on a couple concessions that you plan to stop once qualifying starts.Seriously, why even bother? I understand the late models are there Saturday so why not do that another night when you can afford to put forth something a little more appreciative of the fans that support your track than the half hearted attempt you are making Saturday. The backpacks don't mean a flying flip to those of us whose kids are grown, and reduced concessions that you stop before the actual races ever start don't mean much either. The very way you are going about such a feeble attempt to thank your paying customers should be enough motivation to ensure some of us won't spend a dime for anything at your track once you have shown your appreciation for us by charging us regular price at the front gate on "fan appreciation night".

don't be so angry that a raceway program doesn't fit your entire needs; it's still a racing program. the gifts are still for those who might not be as well off as others.

So I guess you didn't read the start of my last post. Once again I will repeat it's great that they are doing the backpack thing. And that's just how it should be promoted. As a back to school night. Mixing the two in a half hearted attempt to double down on promotions doesn't make sense or make a track owner look very appreciative of people that support you through the season.Track owners here in the state of Florida have a lot to learn when it comes to promoting they're venues and a little criticism shouldn't be met by making someone out to be something they aren't unless someone has their lips locked on somebody's rear end.

A nice gesture by Desoto Speedway, imo.

For those that need a little help to get back on track it will be a Blessing.

I am not wealthy--or even close. Although it was a struggle, I paid for my kid's backpacks, lunches, clothes, field trips, health insurance, race track admissions...and child support.

I also frequently pay extra to get into the pits.

It has been a very fulfilling life.

"Free" advice: Be cautious about ongoing freebies, often in the end they are far from free, and often they compromise one's own freedom.

Actually the admission is reduced for the grandstand side . I think its usually 20 bucks when the SLMs run...?

yup, Social media is the devil

nothing but people complaining about everything

if you don't like things, stay home, go to the movies or whatever

if you like racing then go and enjoy

                I plan on going

But really don't cross promote. Do something memorable for the kiddies. Give them a backpack on the track and give them a ride in a racecar and give them something to talk about when they go back to school and leave them with a lasting impression. Don't make a half hearted cross promo deal out of it. I know damn well I have attended more race nights at more tracks here in Florida than the biggest part of the fan base on this board in the seven years I have been in this state and I will call it like I see it every day of the week and if speaking my mind hurts someone's feelings then they need to grow thicker skin.

But I stuck around long enough to graduate not long after I turned seventeen old school. And the only reason I did was because I knew it was the only way my dad would let me build a race car.And I really don't understand why track owner's don't tap into the area schools and trade schools to get them involved in various ways.
