A little clarification please.During the late model feature a yellow flag was displayed for Jesse Dutilly spinning off the track alone coming off turn two. Earlier in the event a similar situation occurred with the car of Coffman (or Robert ford ?)spinning off the track in turn four yet with the pack approaching much closer no yellow flag. Next. On a late race restart Michael at well was sent to the tail for not being lined up in the proper position on the previous restart. My question is if race officials new he wasn't in the proper position on the previous restart why was the green flag ever dropped in the first place? You penalized him after the fact. The leader controls the starts but the flagman and race director control the race. If a guy won't pay attention to the proper lineup or for that matter any flag the flagman has an extra flag at his disposal. Its called a red flag. You drop the red and go out and have a little conversation with them until they see it your way. There is no reason for you to penalize a guy after the fact for something the flagman and race officials could have corrected in real time. That smacks of favoritism as you moved a fast car out of Dutillys way with under ten laps to go.

The car spinning had got going before we seen it. Black cars are very hard to see in certain areas of track. Not an excuse just facts we are human. Atwell was a different story he was told and his spotter for a Lap an a half where to go for restart but he just refused to listen so that's why he was penalized he's just lucky the yellow came back out or he would have gotten the black flag. We will not ride around under caution or red flag a race and make fans sit there because someone won't listen. Their told every race in the drivers meetings how things will go and that's the way it's going to be. We are not out to penalize anyone but will not put with nonsense either.

And that is the way it should be. Ricky you got it right there. There is a time when the racer will be responsible and when he doesent want to be the officales will have to be.
3 choices ..ware ur told to start ...the rear...the pits... the racer gets to pick so don't blame the official..

Is that when the field was stopped on the back stretch (to line up correctly) ? I couldn't figure out why that happened when they now have race receivers...it looked like they went back in time...thought race receivers would eliminate that crap..... OSF
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

Great car count!!! Good job Desoto!!! RONNIE YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! Just wish New Smyrna would get more. Hopefully with the re-birth of Citrus and Punta Gorda (and the hard nose Tech from Ricky )will inspire the cars on jack stand to get dusted off and go racing again. Heck maybe even the new race building business with get a shot in the arm. Don thanks for support and be a great mentor. We may not always agree, but we both know the our passion is Motorsports!!!!! Hope to see you at the races and crack some stone crabs!!!!!

And I'm not saying you should. I am neither a Dutilly hater or taking sides I am simply saying how it appeared with the lack of explanation especially on the restart deal. I really would rethink the hesitancy using the red when someone fails to listen or heed a black or move over flag. The fans sit through many delays in a race program and I think with a simple explanation would understand one for that reason.

I believe I agree with both sides of this deal.

It is good to deal with things quickly. I have seen drivers that disagree with a call and it has been a 20 minute negotiation--with sometimes the drivers getting what they want.

But I also think, a la' Yoho, it should be dealt with on the spot and swiftly.

For the sake of the discussion, what if there had been a second delay under the second caution if the driver would not move to the rear of the field? Would the race be continued with him up front not being scored?

"We are all human" says a lot. Stuff happens, life moves on.

They could have all stopped for hot dogs and cokes under green and it would have been more professional that the fiasco at Charlotte, which was also human error--in front of a national audience.

Well I think you have to look at it this way. What if say a car restarts in the wrong position towards the front of the field and proceeds to wreck three or four of the lead cars on the restart? What do you tell those guys back in the pits. We are sorry you got torn up but we didn't want to hold up the program 5 minutes to make sure he got lined up right?
